I too absolutely love reading with my kids and we have done so every night before bed since they were infants. To me, reading the best bonding time you can have with your kids. It's a chance to spend some calm, quality time with your kids. And, it helps their brain power at the same time. Bonus! Both of my kids are excellent readers and in the AR program as well. Like you said, kids are growing up with almost everything being computer-based or interactive in school, so they need to be just as comfortable with technology and using technology to learn as with a traditional book. We are going to try some of the resources you mentioned in the post to supplement our bedtime bonding and reading with traditional books.
