No More Hunting and Pecking with the Logitech Keyboard Case for iPad2

By Jamie Wiersma
Our family recently purchased an iPad2 and immediately I realized how fantastic the world of tablets is. Oftentimes I found myself not using my laptop much and exclusively using the iPad for everyday life. However, the part that drove me crazy was trying to type emails using the screen. I’m a typer and I found myself converting to hunting and pecking when using the screen. It was driving me nuts! The Logitech Keyboard Case for iPad2 has saved the day! I decided to test it out even more by seeing how much of this blog I could do using my tablet and this keyboard. I’ll let you know at the end of this post how I did!

The Logitech Keyboard by ZAGG feels and types just like a regular keyboard. I actually like the feel of it better than the keyboard on my laptop! The iPad fits into a recess just behind the keyboard that allows you to position the tablet in either portrait or landscape mode.  In addition to it being a keyboard, when you are finished using your iPad, it becomes a case for your tablet, wrapping around the iPad to cover the screen and sides.

Typing on keyboard

Reasons why I like the Logitech Keyboard Case:

1. It has a great “feel” when typing…I can accurately type again!

2.  It works great if you want to type on your lap or if you position it on a counter to type. The recess that holds the iPad keeps the tablet very sturdy. I don’t have to worry about the tablet slipping out.

3. The precision-cut, aluminum case looks great and does a great job protecting the iPad. There is high-density padding at each corner that give the iPad extra cushioning in case it is accidentally dropped when in the case.

4. Setting up the keyboard and getting it to “talk” with the iPad was super easy via Bluetooth.

5. It has function keys that allow you to control volume, search, do a slide show, etc.

Pros:

1. I love the feel of the keyboard.

2. The case is very durable but yet does not add too much bulk to the iPad.

3.  The recess that the tablet fits into keeps the iPad in place even when you put pressure on it. I don’t feel like I have to worry about it toppling over.

Cons:

1. When you are putting the iPad away and using it as a case, you need to be very conscious about making sure that it locks into place. It’s easy to think that it is secure when in fact it is not.

2.  As a mom of young boys, I feel like I can’t use it exclusively because when my little ones are using the iPad I want it in a durable case that is going to protect the tablet from little accidents. So, I find myself swapping between this case and a durable one for the kids to use. This case is probably best suited for adult usage.

So, how did I do? Well, everything that you see typed, I did with the keyboard and iPad, not my laptop. I admit, I did insert the pictures with my laptop but everything else was done with the iPad and keyboard.  Overall, the Logitech Keyboard Case by ZAGG is a great wireless keyboard. You can find it at amazon.com for $61.08. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a wireless keyboard for their iPad.
