Springpad.com’s Beautifully Organized Thanksgiving Contest & Giveaway

by Lori Cunningham (@wellconnectdmom)

Editor’s Note: Congrats go out to Debra from Missouri for winning the Breville Immersion Blender from our Springpad contest!

A couple of years ago I signed up for a fun pinning type website called Springpad.  It’s a cross between Pinterest and Microsoft OneNote (my fave!) or Evernote.  SpringPad is a great way to organize your life better.  It’s perfect for:

  • home decor or remodeling projects
  • your recipes and special Holiday recipes
  • sharing with others your favorite books, restaurants, recipes, music, websites, movies, etc.
  • organize information for upcoming trips
  • plan your next party…or at least your child’s birthday party!
  • keep track of upcoming events and important info. from your kids’ school
  • manage your family’s health information so you always have it close at hand
  • organize your shopping lists/wish lists showing pictures of what you want to buy
The possibilities are endless.  When I signed up originally, I added some of my favorite books, TV shows, and movies.  After more of your friends join Springpad, you will be able to browse their favorite things, which gives you good recommendations of what you should watch, read, or cook next.

Springpad’s Beautifully Organized Thanksgiving Contest

To make it fun for your to get started with Springpad while giving you a little incentive, SpringPad has created a new contest called the “Beautifully Organized Thanksgiving Contest.”  To enter simply sign up or login to Sprinpad.com and create a Notebook depicting what you see as an ideal Thanksgiving Feast – complete with the fixin’s, decorations, wine suggestions, whatever your want!  Then, tell your friends and ask them to “Like” your Thanksgiving board.  The winner will receive a Breville Smart Oven valued at $250.
To begin, follow these steps….
To Tag your notebook with the #Turkey2012 tag, look at the bottom of the screen, on the left-hand side and your see the word, “Customize.”  Click on it and you can name your notebook, categorize it (Food and Drink), add tags, and change the color and look of the notebook a bit.
Looking for some inspiration?  Check out our Thanksgiving Notebook:
One neat thing I like about Springpad is that you can change the way you view your data.  This view above is the standard view, but you can also get a more graphically appealing, artisty look and organize the data they way you want…like this….
Again, you can check out our Thanksgiving board at:  Thankful Over Thanksgiving.
With Springpad, you can add images from your computer, images and links from the Internet, videos, add shopping lists, recipes, even event reminders and calendar events!
I created my own Thankful Over Thanksgiving notebook and was a little apprehensive at the time it would take.  But I got my notebook up and running in no time and actually had a lot of fun looking for recipes and adding color to my notebook.  In fact, I’ve enjoyed adding to my notebook almost daily.  In the process, I’ve learned these cool tips:

Once you add a recipe, when you click on the details of the recipe, you can:

  • See suggested wine parings from Snooth.com
  • Add the recipe items to a built-in customized shopping list on Springpad
  • See local deals/advertisements on the items you need to buy for the recipe! (using built-in groceryserver.com info)
  • See who else added the picture/recipe/etc. to their site
  • Leave comments attached to the recipe, picture, etc.
  • Click on the link to take you to where the item originally appears on the Internet

Love Pinterest?  Then I think you’ll love the extra robustness of Springpad.  Try out Springpad, use the #Turkey2012 hashtag, and share your notebook with your family and friends using Springpad’s built-in social tools – Facebook, Twitter, and e-mail.  In fact, the Facebook integration is so streamlined, your friends can like your notebook without ever leaving Facebook.  Want to increase your votes? Encourage friends to Like your Thanksgiving notebook on Facebook and Follow you on Springpad.com.

The three notebooks with the most Facebook Likes and Springpad follows will win a Breville Countertop Smart Oven.

The contest will close at 11:59 p.m. EST on Thursday, November 15, 2012. Winners will be announced on the Springpad Facebook Page on Friday, November 16, 2012.

Good luck and please comment if you plan on entering.  Hurry, the contest only runs from November 1st to the 15th!  Also, let us know so we can vote for you too!
