Some of you may know that I have a passion for DIY home automation.  In fact, I created our sister site, TheWellConnectedHome.com to explore some of the different technologies available to help make things easier to manage your home or increase your sense of security.  I have explored a number of different technologies on TheWellConnectedHome such as electronic door locks, whether you need to buy a tankless water heater, and more.

Due to the simplicity of today’s apps and low energy signals, it has never been easier or cheaper to set up your own DIY home automation in your home to control lights, security cameras, door locks, thermostats, and more.  While at the Consumer Electronics Show this year, I visited the home automation area, like I do every year, to see what new innovations companies are creating to make your home easier to manage.

Please see our article, DIY Home Automation at the Consumer Electronics Show 2014 for a brief overview on the technologies you should be aware of if interested in automating some tasks in your home.
