How to Keep Your Feet Warm with Heated Insoles

Warm toes! Heated Insoles

I’ll never forget the time I checked off “Skate in Rockefeller Center” from my bucket list.  I skated with my 9 year-old daughter and it was like a dream.  With the giant multi-colored magnificent Christmas tree above us and the gleaming of the bronze gilded statue of Titan Prometheus ahead of us, we didn’t want the night to end.  But it came to a point that if it didn’t, I felt that my feet would break into frozen pieces.  They were in such pain.

As I limped away from the skating rink and sought refuge in the Rockefeller Center building, I began to remember what the beginnings of frostbite felt like.  I had this feeling often, growing up in Ohio, after frolicking in the snow.  I fell down to the ground, threw off my shoes, and gingerly began massaging my feet, trying to resurrect them.  I must have sat there for over 15 minutes.  Fortunately, my daughter didn’t fare the same discomfort.

Heated Insoles

I recently became aware of an incredible piece of technology, I never knew existed, but which I had.  ThermaCELL makes Heated Insoles.  Yes, you heard me right.  You can insert their insoles into your shoes and feel your toes warm right up.  They come in S, M, L, XL, and XXL sizes, and can be clipped around the edges to ensure they fit into your  shoes.

But get this…these heated insoles come with a remote control!  Can you believe it?  Gotta love technology!  So you don’t have to take the insoles out of your shoes to turn them on each time, which is awesome, especially if you have skates or heavy boots on.  The remote control comes with 3 settings:  High, Medium, or No Heat, and you can operate your heated insoles from up to 7 feet away.  Just place it in your pocket or purse and you can access the heat level on your toes anytime.

Features:

  • Heated Insoles can be cut down to fit your shoes/boots
  • Rechargeable 1000 mAh battery lasts up to 5 hours per charge
  • Heats your toes quickly with High (111 degrees F) or Medium (100 degrees F) settings
  • Control settings of heat level with a wireless remote control
  • Provides regulated heat for a consistent temperature
  • Water-resistant soles are protected against moisture and perspiration

Pros:

  • There’s nothing better to help warm your toes in cold weather
  • The remote control is very handy.  Easily turn the heat off when you enter a store.
  • The battery is rechargeable
  • The battery life of 5 hours is a good amount of time
  • You don’t have to take your shoes off to turn off or adjust the heat settings
  • They have a little tab you can pull on to get them out of your shoes more easily

Cons:

  • The heated insoles are a bit pricey, would be hard to outfit the whole family in these
  • Although the profile of the toe part of the heated insoles is relatively thin, it still takes up room and might not fit in woman’s boots which often has little headroom
  • You need to take the insoles out of your shoes to charge them, though they don’t need to come all the way out

ThermaCELL Heated Insoles sell for $99.95 for the Medium size through Amazon.  Different sizes have different prices.  For example, the Large size sells for $84.99.

A Mom’s Perspective

Family Technology at it's Best

If you’re a person with continuous cold feet, slip ThermaCELL Heated Insoles into your slippers.  Just think at a single click, your feet will warm up in no time.  I am using them in mine, it works great!  The insoles are not as soft as my slippers, but that’s OK, I love the warmth of them.  I also used the heated insoles in my tennis shoes, which I use for my morning walks.  They can warm up my feet when I start and I can turn them off when my body starts heating up.

Because of the thickness of the soles, they probably won’t work with most designer boots.  The ThermaCELL Heated Insoles were too thick for my (fashionable) boots.  However, if you tend to wear a more weatherized boot, it is more likely to have the headroom to comfortably fit the heated insoles and your foot.

Men shouldn’t have the same issues with their shoes and boots, because there is typically more headroom built into their shoes.

Think of these occasions and how nice it would be to have warm feet:

  • at the football game
  • playing in the snow
  • ice skating
  • skiing or snowboarding
  • snowmobiling
  • shoveling snow
  • winter hunting/fishing
  • camping…in the evening
  • walking to school, to the store, etc. in the Winter
  • running errands around town
  • in your slippers!

If your feet are aching for warmth, put ThermaCELL Heated Insoles on your wishlist.  Your cold feet can be a thing of the past.  Yeah!

*   I was given a pair of ThermaCELL Heated Insoles in exchange for my honest opinion.  I think these are so cool!
