Bringing Disney’s Stories to Life in the Enchanted Tales App

Are you a Disney fan?  Do you know all of the Disney princess’ names?  Don’t you just love the Disney stories?  Disney is constantly working on ways to make their characters come alive so Disney followers can interact with their favorite characters.

Last week we were invited to attend a tea party, fit for a princess, to recognize the launch of Disney’s Enchanted Tales.  The tables were beautifully adorned, featuring fine china and a centerpiece honoring each of the princesses featured in the Disney Enchanted App.  Isn’t cute?

Here is a shot from Elsa’s table.  I just loved the linens and maroon and green decor.

Disney Enchanted Tales App

Disney Enchanted Tales is a new free app that allows you to build and expand Disney kingdoms with special beloved landmarks like Elsa’s Ice Palace, Belle’s Bookstore, the Beast’s Castle, Rapunzel’s Tower, and more.

The game takes place on a quilt, which interestingly enough appears to be on a bed.  You start with Belle’s village and expand her village by earning rewards and performing tasks according to the storyline.  The storyline is given to you in pieces while you build out her landscape.

Every time you add a new building or accessory, the item is “stitched” into the quilt.  Once you get to a certain level, you can earn Anna and the Frozen realm.

Disney Enchanted Tales is a pleasant engaging experience and one that is definitely addictive, but doesn’t demand a lot of your time all at once.  I have played the SIM City Build It game and have found it hard to put down at times….to many times.

But that’s not the case with Disney Enchanted Tales – gameplay is divided in more snackable bites so that you…or your children…won’t spend hours at one time playing.  This is a tremendous feature and one that makes me feel more comfortable allowing my children to play the game without worry of major homework distraction!

The Disney Enchanted Tales App begins with Belle’s world.  Eventually you can add Elsa from Frozen and Rapunzel from Tangled.  I like the way Disney has interwoven storytelling along with different quests or tasks you must complete.

To earn stars to help you level up, you can complete tasks for each character.  The longer it takes them to do a task, the more stars and coins you’ll receive.  Coins are needed to buy buildings, decorations, and characters.  You can also earn or buy diamonds to help speed up tasks or the building process.

As with any game these days, you have the option to buy diamonds and coins.  A stack of 25 diamonds is $1.99 with a chestful costing $49.99.  A stack of 700 coins will cost you $.99 and a chestful of 36,000 costs $39.99.

You can play the game without buying diamonds and coins…with a lot of patience.

Here’s a partial look at my village – this is Belle’s village.  I have the Frozen village just slightly off the screen.  I have recently added the Beast’s castle and once I level up enough to be able to expand my quilt, I can buy a few more needed things to continue the Beauty and the Beast storyline at the Beast’s castle…I can’t wait!

Here’s a quick  overview of the app and what you can do with Disney Enchanted Tales…

Lose yourself in an Enchanted Tale and relive scenes from the addictive storytelling task-by-task style of this fun Disney app.  Disney Enchanted Tales is a free app with in-app purchases available in both the Google Play and Apple App stores.

* I attended the Disney Enchanted Tales tea without cost and given a number of coins and diamonds to assist with my gameplay.

  1. I love your blog, I’ve found several things super helpful and useful!
But this is annoying. I HATE these apps and deter my 3 and 4 year olds from downloading anything like these even though they are everywhere and of course they want them because they are advertised at every turn. They do not understand about in-app purchases. This post REALLY upset me because as I realize your children are older, surely you understand the frustration to us parents with younger children.

    • Hi Jennrr,

Thank you for commenting. You are absolutely right that it is annoying that so many apps encourage you to buy stuff in the app to get more powers or build things faster. Younger kids don’t understand, I know. My kids are older but when they were younger, (probably about 5) I did teach them not to buy the “extra’ diamonds, coins, etc. But of course, they now watch ads to get the diamond or coin for free!

Whenever an app or a website is free-to-use, there is always a cost somewhere – whether it’s having us watch ads, intruding on our privacy, or hooking us on their product so they can get us to upgrade after we’ve become addicted. It’s the cost we pay for using something for free.

We wrote an article on Moms with Apps (now called Know What’s Inside) that gives parents more control with regards to which kids’ apps have in-app purchases, show adds, require Internet, and more. It’s a parent-empowering website. Hope it helps!
