uGrow Digital Parenting Platform Helps Track Baby

CES 2017 Philips Baby Tech Main

Just coming back from the largest consumer electronics tradeshow in the world, CES did not disappoint with the increasing number of products geared towards women and babies.  We will be coming out with our top gadgets for moms from CES soon, but in the meanwhile, see our Top 5 Tech Product Trends of CES, especially the last trend – Nursing Tech, for some great new gadgets coming out for moms.

While at CES, we had the opportunity to sit down with Philips to talk about their uGrow connected products and baby app.  They are creating products that talk to their uGrow app to help busy and tired parents track their baby’s everyday events and growth.

UGrow

uGrow is built upon the Philips Health Suite Digital Platform, which is a cloud-enabled connected health system of devices and tools to help simplify tracking and empower personalized health and care.

Not only does it help you track, uGrow gives you personal advice as well, such as relevant articles based on a panel of breastfeeding, sleep, and developmental psychology experts. It helps you understand your baby’s development, discover patterns, and reassures new parents.

uGrow’s interactive timeline helps parents track baby’s growth and events, such as feedings, sleep time, weight, and whatever else a parent wants to input onto the timeline.  Parents can use virtual stickers and take pictures to note celebrations or milestones as well.

Currently, Philips Avent has three products that work in conjunction with uGrow, the Philips Avent Smart Baby Monitor, Smart Ear Thermometer, and their Avent baby bottle.

Philips Avent Smart Baby Monitor

CES 2017 Philips Baby Tech (8)

The Avent Smart Baby Monitor provides a secure and private connection so you can see your baby, through the uGrow app, on most Android or Apple device.  The Avent Smart Baby Monitor provides up to 720p HD day and night vision.  Parents can allow access to view their baby to other family members, such as grandparents or to other caregivers.

The Avent Smart Baby Monitor monitors and records room humidity and temperature, allows for 2-way communication, and even has a selection of lullabies to calm baby down.  You can even take a snapshot of your baby using the app.  Set the mood with it’s custom multi-colored night light, set by your phone.

Log your baby’s sleep and feedings in the uGrow app and use the info. to see if room temperature, humidity, and feedings interfere with baby’s sleeping patterns.

The Philips Avent Smart Baby Monitor is available now from Amazon for $194.58 plus free shipping.

Philips Avent Smart Ear Thermometer

CES 2017 Philips Baby Tech (6)

The Philips Avent Smart Ear Thermometer accurately measures and records your child’s temperature and transmits the data to the uGrow app.  Baby’s temperature is taken within two seconds and the uGrow app helps parents determine a baby’s history as well as gives parents advice about taking care of a baby with a fever.

The uGrow app stores the history of all temperature readings, making it easier to discuss with the doctor how baby was feeling during the past week.  You can also use uGrow to discover patterns of sickness throughout the year, based on higher temperature readings.

The Philips Avent Smart Ear Thermometer uses a comfortable tip, designed for ease-of-use and a fast temperature read so it doesn’t wake/disturb baby.  It can be purchased at Walmart for $59.99 plus free shipping.

Avent Smart Bottle Sleeve

CES 2017 Philips Baby Tech (4)

The Philips Avent Smart Bottle Sleeve, which is not yet out, is simple, but amazing piece of technology for new parents.  It is a sleeve that wraps around an Avent bottle, to show parents the temperature of the milk in the bottle.  Parents can finally know how hot the milk is before they feed it to their baby.

The Avent Smart Bottle Sleeve records how long a feeding takes and any interruptions as well. Data is sent to the uGrow app for easily monitoring.  Based on your baby’s age, the uGrow app will suggest articles to help educate through personalized feeding advice.

The Avent Smart Bottle Sleeve will be available later this year.

Philips’ focus on giving parents peace of mind is evident in their uGrow platform, app, and babycare products.  As a nursing mother, I remember keeping track of my baby’s schedule on a small whiteboard in our nursery.  It helped me keep track of my kids’ schedule…when I was in the room, but it didn’t help too much when I was out of the room.

Having the uGrow app makes tracking so much easier…and fun.  And I love the fact that Philips’ products work together to populate your child’s timeline along with your notes, giving you a full picture of your baby’s needs, milestones, and timing.  It’s really quite brilliant.

Expect to see more products in the Philips Avent uGrow line such as a Air Purifier 1000i series and  and Philips Hue White Ambiance lighting.
