CES 2017: 5 Great Gadgets for Moms

Top 5 CES Gadgets for Moms 2017 Main

We had a great time at the largest consumer electronics show in the world, CES, in Las Vegas.

If you’re a regular reader, you may have already caught our Top 5 Trends of CES, relevant to families.  We were pretty excited by the new trends in nursing tech and even pet tech!  There is a new focus in both of the categories to make nursing moms more productive and pets easier to keep track of.

Though it was tough, we narrowed down to 5 our favorite gadgets for Moms from CES…that either are available now or will come out later this year.  From nursing tech to much-needed-sleep, to keeping you covered during a rainstorm, you’re gonna love these new products…

5 Great Gadgets for Moms

Willow Wearable Breast Pump

top 5 tech
Hands down, for us, Willow was the star of CES, and one of the best gadgets for Moms. Willow is a wireless and discreet breast pump.  Willow breaks all traditional chained-to-the-pump barriers in giving women freedom to pump breast milk quietly and discreetly, without the need for power cords, milking tubes, hands, or bottles.

Willow is the first wearable breast pump that is placed over each breast and fits securely in the cup of the bra.  It is discreet and quiet and allows moms to freely move about and use both hands for other things…even take phone calls and text.

The CDC recommends children are breastfed until 12 months old.  In the US, 81% babies start out being breastfed, but by 6 months, only 50% are still breastfed.  Continued breastfeeding diminishes due to the amount of time it takes, its inconvenience, and the lack of freedom a woman has while pumping or breastfeeding.

Willow gives nursing women newfound freedom and liberty.  The ability to do what they do best…multitask!  Each Willow pump houses a 4 ounce capacity bag and a battery that can last up to a couple of days on one charge.  The Willow app helps moms keep track of the amount of milk pumped from each breast as well as the timing and length of each session.  It’s an incredibly well-thought out product and turns the nursing industry on it’s ear!

Willow will be available in the spring from the Willow website and retail for $430.

RAYCORP RS2 Sanitizer

Raycorp rs2 Sanitizer 3

We have done a number of recent reviews on products that help identify or rid of indoor air pollutants, like the AirFree P3000 and Foobot.  Indoor air pollution, caused from cooking, cleaning products, pollens, viruses, mold and mildew, and more causes allergies and asthma to flare.

With the growing number of people developing asthma and allergies, more care needs to be taken to provide refuge in our homes from flare-ups.

We can use purifiers to clean the air and the “Allergen” cycle on our more advanced dryers to clean our things, but I’ve often wondered about certain pillows and rugs than cannot be cleaned in traditional ways without ruining them.  For example, we have a few shaggy pillows and rugs.  You can’t put them in the dryer.

RAYCORP’s RS2 Sanitizer is a cross between a vacuum and air purifier.  It includes a dual filtration system with a HEPA filter, proven to capture 99.9% of common allergens.  In addition, it uses an ultraviolet light technology, optimized suction, and pulsating pads to capture three times the amount of pollutants than a regular vacuum.

But the RS2 isn’t made to replace your vacuum.  It’s made for purifying items specifically that you can’t typically clean…and save you time from having to dry clean things.  Save water and energy by using the RS2 Sanitizer to purify your bed sheets so you don’t need to wash them as often.  Try the sanitizer on your furniture upholstery, drapes, decorative accent pillows, car seats, even your clothes.

But don’t stop there.  Sanitize your mattresses in the home as well.  According to the Environmental Protection Agency, a mattress may house up to 10 million dust mites as well as numerous bacterias and viruses.  Finally, you have a way to sanitize your mattress and alleviate allergies and asthma, making your home a haven for allergy/asthma suffers, not a torture chamber!  And this is why the RS2 Sanitizer is one of our top 5 gadgets for Moms!

The RS2 Sanitizer is available from Amazon for $349.99 plus free shipping.

Alchema Cider Making System

Alchema pdt

You’ve heard of all the fun beer home-brewing kits on the market.  But what if you’re not a beer drinker?  Alchema brings the craft of home brewing to a new level with the ability to make craft cider at home.  Make apple cider, strawberry raspberry, even a cherry black tea cider with Alchema’s included app with tons of cider recipes.

Or, come up with your own creations.  Alchema lets you customize any cider with your own desired level of sweetness and alcohol content.

Making cider is easy, here are the steps:

  1. Choose a recipe
  2. Wait for auto sanitization – Alchema uses a medical grade UV-C LED light to sanitize the container before fermentation
  3. Add ingredients
  4. Wait for notification – can take up to 2 weeks
  5. Put in the fridge to settle

Why so long to make cider? You need 1-2 weeks for the fruit to ferment.  Alchema does the monitoring of temperature, pressure, and alcohol content, and will alert you when your cider is complete.  To aid in the fermenting process, you will need yeast packets to pour into each cider before beginning.  Alchema comes shipped with three kinds of yeast packets to get started.

Alchema has a built-in scale, so as you add ingredients into its 2.5 liter pitcher (equivalent of 3 bottles of wine), it will alert you in the app when you have put the right levels in.  And yes, you can make wine in Alchema too, although this process could take up to 16 weeks.

Impress your yourself…and your friends…by making your own crafted cider with the flavors you’ve only just dreamed about before.

Alchema will be available for $499 on their website when it is made available later this year. Want to secure one now?  Pre-order one and save $70 in the process.

2breathe Sleep Inducer

2-breathe-Mobile-V1-15_1-300x300

Do you have trouble falling asleep at night?  As moms, we tend to be light sleepers…and sometimes getting to sleep at all is a challenge, distracted by racing thoughts, stress, and apprehension of what is to come the next day.

The 2breathe Sleep Inducer won an Innovation Award at CES for it’s usefulness in addressing sleeplessness….sounds like a tool moms need!

I’ve often thought my breathing could be the ticket to help me fall to sleep, but I never knew how I should breathe and how long to help expedite sleep.  2breathe uses a connected comfortable belt to give you sleep-inducing breathing exercises to prepare your mind and body for sleep.

Simply follow the tones that gradually guide you to a prolonged exhale and slow your breathing.  Within just minutes, neural sympathetic activity is diminished, causing your focus to move away from internal and external stimuli, allowing you to move into sleep.

The connected belt sends info. to the app, showing you your sleep stats…how long it took you to fall asleep, a graph of your breathing rate, and more.

2breathe uses smart, connected technology to deliver sleep-inducing breathing exercises in an easy and effective manner.  According to 2breathe…

“The whole breathing synchronization and prolonging the exhalation process happens subliminally in a way you can’t do on your own. The tones guide the breathing via the emotional part of the brains and not the “decision-making” cognitive part of the brain, as other methods such as counting or “thinking about it” tend to do.”

Anything that helps moms to sleep and learn good breathing habits that not only help prepare your for sleep but help to diminish stress as well, is an A+ in our book!

2breathe is available from Amazon for $189.95 plus free shipping.

Oombrella

oombrella_Paris

Oombrella is a fun product I saw at CES.  But it is also practical.  What first caught my attention is the material Oombrella uses.  It’s shiny iridescent color is captivating, I’ve never seen another umbrella like it.  The material is a bit thicker than most umbrellas, making it sturdy and more resistant to tears.

But this umbrella is not just another hip shiny fashion statement.  The Oombrella is connected, which is why it make it on our top gadgets for Moms.  The “brains” of the Oombrella are in the handle, which connects to the free app on your phone.  No longer will you leave the house without an umbrella; the Oombrella will notify you on your phone when rain is expected in your area.

The Oombrella will be your constant companion when it rains; it reminds you to take your Oombrella with you, should you leave it behind at home,  restaurant, friend’s house, another person’s car, the office, etc.  You will not get caught in the rain without this umbrella!

Another interesting component of the Oombrella, is its connectivity to other Oombrellas.  As more Oombrellas are sold, they all will send data to the cloud as to whether or not it is raining in its location.  This micro information is then reported through the app, sharing with other nearby Oombrella owners whether one part of town is rainier than another.

The Oombrella is a beautiful fashionable accessory that is sure to capture people’s attention while keeping you dry and prepared to face any rainy day. It’s a great gadgets for Moms, Dads, grandparents, you name it!

The Oombrella will become available by June and is estimated to cost $80.

There you have it!  Some fun products to keep your home fresher, enable you to make home-crafted cider, and multi-task why you pump…what could be better?
