I have lived just outside of Los Angeles most of my life. Driving and walking through Los Angeles, I have seen some pretty strange sights. I believe people with the utmost original “style” walk our streets. I’ve seen wild color hair, outlandish outfits, tattoos everywhere, heels that never end, etc.
One day I was driving down around LA and I saw a native African tribesman just walking down the street. He looked similar to the picture to the right, his mouth malformed with a giant disc. He was dressed in a brilliantly colored wrap cloth and if memory serves me correctly, he was barefoot! I remember taking a double take as I drove by him! He looked so authentic, he couldn’t have been an actor just stepping off the movie lot.
So, walking into the E3 video games trade show was almost no different than walking around LA! LOL! There were characters walking around straight out of combat, the movies, evil thrilling adventures, and kids games. I felt like I was in a big room full of different peoples’ fantasies. The lines to try the latest video games were long and full of anxious players.
Here are some pictures I took as I went from one adventure to the next. E3 is not open to the public, only to the trade. But there were a lot of enthusiasts who made video games their career as buyers.
Now, on to the Show!
Things are always more fun with friends, so I called a few friends to join me at the E3 trade show. Luckily, they were in town. We had a great time catching up and learning about their latest video game, STAR WARS: The Old Republic.
For you GLEE fans, the latest volume of GLEE hits are available on GLEE Karaoke Revolution from Konami. Sing great GLEE show hit songs along with your favorite glee characters and remember show moments. Available on the Wii now for $49.99, with microphone included.
Am I seeing green? Even my 8 year old’s favorite cartoon characters made it to the show! Though, in this state, they didn’t create much havoc. Phineas and Ferb adorned the fun Disney booth.
Walking into the Disney booth was like walking into the Disneyland Park itself with street lights, artists drawing caricatures, a cafe, and Disney characters. A lot of fun things happening in this booth.
Let’s not forget the latest dance craze, Dance Central 2! Showgoers more more than happy to help show off the latest Harmonix for the XBOX 360.
It’s hard to tell from this picture, but there were a lot of women dressed up in fantasy warrior costumes showcasing various new video games. You can imagine they received a lot of photos…probably more than the video games themselves!!!
Let me tell you, E3 is ALL about fun and games! E3 is not a show to be rushed through. These buyers are serious about the games they will be selling. Or, at least serious about beating the player next to them!
I was excited to see this advertisement from rebdbox at E3. How cool is that? Now you can rent games to try them out BEFORE you buy them from a convenient location. From my small testing of games available on redbox.com, it appears that game rentals are $2/night. Very cool. And did you know you can reserve your favorite game or movie right from your local rebbox online? This way you can be sure they will have it when you arrive.
There seemed to be a lot of redhead’s congregating at this booth. Showgoers who stopped to show off their moves in this XBOX Kinect game were rewarded with their own red wig. It’s funny how people all of sudden have a desire to have a red wig, where there once was no desire.
There is so much more to show you, but hopefully this gave you a glimpse of what the show was like. Be sure to read The WellConnectedMom.com’s top 5 favorite video games from the show and learn more about Wii’s new console and controller in our Best Upcoming Family Games from E3 post.
