As a part of the conference, BlogHer has a exhibit hall where over 100 companies share their products with bloggers. The Jimmy Dean sun was there handing out samples, I had tastes of Hot Pockets, which I haven’t had in years, the Dole pineapple team was there with samples of fruit cups, fruit snacks and fruit smoothies. And the technology, whoa, I was in heaven. I will talk more about some of the gadgets and games in a later article.
One company that caught my eve was NQmobile with their new Family Guardian mobile product. OK, I’ll be truthful. I walked right past their booth because you wouldn’t believe the amount of Internet protection suite review e-mails we get. I just saw them as yet another antivirus company. But upon further investigation, I realized NQmobile solves a problem I have been searching for. In addition to protecting you phone from viruses, it helps you to monitor your tween/teen’s activity on their phone. You are able to see every text and every website address visited. You can also set hours where your tween can surf the Internet. For any parent who is just starting to give their tween/teen their first mobile phone, Family Guardian can provide peace of mind for parents as they teach their children phone responsibility and safety.
On the other hand, Family Guardian also gives parents’ the choice to allow their child complete privacy, it’s up to the parent. From my research in writing our free eBook, Teens & Cellphones – A Primer, I would recommend starting with full or nearly full parental monitoring and then stepping it back as the child shows maturity and responsibility.
FamilyGuardian is now in Beta, expected to be released soon. After learning more information about NQmobile’s FamilyGuardian and realizing this is a product I could get behind, I made this video NQmobile’s booth:
