I just love going to the Consumer Electronics Show in January. Every year I find some cool and unique products that we would have missed knowing about if I didn’t go. This year was no exception. The LUNA is one of products that we found and loved, so we put it in our article, Valentines Day Gifts for the Loves of Your Life. The LUNA is a skincare care product, made by FOREO. No, FOREO’s skincare line is not about lotions or serums. It’s all about a revolutionary way to clean and care for your face with the aid of technology.
The LUNA is the first of its kind cleaner, with its touchpoints made from smooth, soft silicone. It uses T-Sonic (transdermal sonic) pulsations to gently soothe your face while unclogging your pores from make-up, dirt, and oil and removing dead skin cells.
Using technology for skincare is not new. Clarisonic is a popular tech skincare product using oscillating nylon bristles, but the bristles can be harsher to the skin and are prone to bacteria growth. In fact, it’s because of this growth that Clarisonic recommends that you replace your brush head every 3 months…at $25 a head! I viewed a number of YouTube reviews comparing Clarisonic to LUNA and found that in each of them, they complained that their skin broke out badly when they first started using Clarisonic. Eventually, the breakouts stopped. This was not the case with the FOREO Luna.
Because LUNA’s touchpoints are made of silicone, they are non-porous, and do not hold on to grime and bacteria which can cause further duress to your face. The FOREO LUNA is extremely hygienic. And because the touchpoints are so durable, you’ll never need to replace the heads, like you need to do with traditional oscillating brushes.
FOREO has thought of everything. You don’t ever need to replace the battery, because a rechargeable one is built right into the LUNA. In fact, the battery is touted to last for up to 450 cleansing routines. FOREO recommends that you use the LUNA for two minutes in the morning and two minutes at night, which means your LUNA won’t need to be charged for at least 200 days, that’s more than 6 months! Very cool.
The FOREO LUNA Tech Skincare Routine
Not sure how to get started? No worries. The LUNA comes with a nice set of instructions, showing you how to use the cleanser.
The LUNA has two modes:
1. Cleansing Mode – for a deep cleansing of your face
2. Anti-Aging Mode – to help promote blood circulation to wrinkle-prone areas (yeah!)
Cleansing Mode
To begin, FOREO recommends that you remove your make up, dampen your face, and apply your regular cleansing product. Put some water on the LUNA and follow FOREO’s instructions. They recommend a four zone cleaning process in which you should spend 15 seconds on each zone. Fortunately, the LUNA will tell you when 15 seconds is over and it’s time to move to the next zone.
First you start from your chin and use upward strokes to your cheeks. Repeat with other side
Next you start at the center of your forehead and clean outwards on the right side of your forehead. Repeat with other side.
Lastly, you gently move the LUNA up and down as you clean around your nose and than the tip. Then you gently clean the under-eye region of both eyes using outward strokes.
Anti-Aging Mode
The LUNA uses lower-frequency pulsations to massage areas of your face that are most likely to wrinkle. These pulsations help to decrease the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, resulting in firmer and smoother looking skin. To begin your anti-aging routine, rotate the LUNA to the backside, where you’ll see gentile ripples.
In the anti-aging stage, you use the top of the LUNA and you simply press the LUNA on one of 5 recommended areas for 12 seconds. Just like in the cleansing mode, the LUNA will indicate to you when 12 seconds is over.

A Mom’s Perspective
I love the fact that the FOREO LUNA is waterproof. In fact, it’s waterproof to up to 1 meter. So you can easily take the LUNA in the shower or bath to carry on your routine. I use the LUNA* at my sink at night, but then carry it into my shower in the mornings. It’s fully waterproof and dries well.
Before I started using the LUNA, I had two red blemishes, one on my cheek, the other on my nose. They were noticeable and I was using concealer to hide them. Within two days of using the LUNA, one was gone completely and the one on my nose was barely noticeable. It was gone on the third day. Phew, another pimple blow-up avoided! Will you be pimple free? It depends on your habits. I found a tiny whitehead on my forehead one day, likely due to holding my head up the day before while reading something. Usually, this would flare up to a bad looking pimple, but by the next day it was gone.
And from what I’ve read online from other LUNA users, the LUNA is great at keeping blackheads at bay as well. Boy, I sure could have used a LUNA growing up, I would have had the clearest skin. My skin was very oily; it broke out so often I ended up on Accutane pills in college to clear it, which really dried up my skin.
My daughter is nearly 11, I’m sure when her time comes, she’ll be vying for my LUNA! Fortunately, LUNA also has some mini LUNA’s, which are lower in cost at $139. The mini LUNA costs less because of its size and it doesn’t have the Anti-aging silicone touchpoints.
I have been very impressed with the FOREO LUNA. My skin has cleared up, the soft touchpoints feel good on my face, it feels softer, it gives me hope that my wrinkles won’t set in as quickly, and the 2 minute routine goes rather quickly.

I think the Foreo Luna would be absolutely great for my 40+ skin! I’m starting to get visible lines on my chin and forehead and I think the anti-aging mode would be especially helpful for that. And cleaner skin also ensures better absorption of the serums and creams you apply afterwards!

I have oily acne prone skin…and the scars to prove it! I could use this daily to exfoliate my skin to help my scars fade faster. I like the fact that it has silicone tips..sounds quite gentle.
