Keurig 2.0 for Four

Don’t you just love a fresh cup of good coffee?  Perhaps you are already a Keurig user and you’re really enjoying your single cup of coffee each day. But what about the times you have guests over and making a single cup for each guest gets rather tedious?  Wouldn’t it be good to have the flexibility to make a single cup one day and a carafe full the next when company comes?
Keurig 2.0  is the answer to your need to make more coffee at one time on these occasions. Keurig 2.0 takes 2.0 K-Cups for single cup days and K Carafe packs to make 4 cups of coffee while having visitors. Using the simple touch of a button, Keurig is known for, you can have coffee made for a crowd in just minutes.  There are three main models available in the Keurig 2.0 series, the K300, K400, and K500, each offering different water reservoir sizes or features.

My in-laws have a Keurig and they love the coffee, but they stopped using it.  When we asked them why, they stated that they really prefer 2 cups of coffee each in the morning each and their single cup system became too much work for them.  Keurig 2.0 would solve their problem.

We used Pumpkin Spice Coffeemate to sweeten the deal.  I love going to Starbuck’s for a great cup of coffee, but seriously, there is no need to anymore.  Now I can have a cup…or carafe of coffee whenever I’d like.  Love it.

We had the opportunity to try out the Keurig 2.0 K500 machine that comes with a 4-cup carafe. Although I am not an everyday coffee drinker, I do enjoy a good cup of coffee and my kids love flavored, sweetened coffees.

Making flavored coffee takes a while for the three of us with our current one cup at a time system. We enjoy using the Carafe system so we could enjoy our coffee and hot cocoa all at the same time.

PROS:

• The lid on the carafe stays on while brewing, allowing minimal heat to get out
• The color display is helpful as the Keurig 2.0 walks you through the easy steps of brewing your coffee
• Like the light in the water reservoir, makes machine look cool and is a reminder that the machine is still on
• Automatically turns off after 15 minutes of non-use
• Pricing for the Keurig 2.0 machines and K-Cups/K-Carafe Packs is reasonable

CONS:

• Only works with new, Keurig-branded K-Cups (2014), not with old K-Cups
• No way to adjust the temperature
• Takes up a lot of space on the counter
• Does not have cappuccino capabilities to froth milk

If you already have a Keurig machine with lots of K-Cups and are thinking of upgrading, it’s likely your old K-Cups won’t work with the new Keurig 2.0 Brewer.  You see, to make the brewing process easier for people, Keurig has incorporated a scanning system into the Keurig 2.0 that scans the top label of each K-Cup and selects the optimal settings based on the beverage you are brewing.  It’s meant to add convenience and simplicity when making your coffee and less dials to mess with.

The Keurig 2.0 has opened my family’s eyes to new non-coffee brewing options like Snapple Peach Iced Tea (my husband was particularly thrilled about this flavor), Diet Snapple Peach Iced Tea, Lemonade, Nutrition Burst Acai Berry, Lemon Iced Tea, and more.  Now all of a sudden, my husband who doesn’t care for coffee, is as excited about the Keruig 2.0 as the rest of us!

The Keurig 2.0 K500 is a great gift to consider for yourself or for others with the upcoming holidays. It normally retails for $189.99, but from now until October 31st, Walmart is offering the Keurig 2.0 K500 for $169, a $20 savings.

A Mom’s Perspective

If you’ve been on the fence about purchasing a Keurig brewer for your household or perhaps you have one but the Keurig 2.0 carafe feature  is appealing to you, this is a great time to jump on the Keurig 2.0 deal at Walmart while they are offering a $20 discount on all three Keurig 2.0 brewers until the end of the month (October 31st).  It makes a great gift idea for the family as it can brew beverages the whole family can enjoy.

If you’re looking for a less pricey gift to give this Christmas to a Keurig fan, the new Keurig 2.0 Stainless Steel Carafe is a great value.  At only $25, it keeps coffee hot and is specifically fashioned to work with the Keurig 2.0 brewer.  We use the Stainless Steel Carafe and found it to not only look fashionable but it keeps the coffee hotter for longer too.

In the past when we have hosted parties, we never could offer a coffee option.  We had a machine, but never had fresh coffee on hand to serve our guests, as I am not an everyday coffee drinker.  With the Keurig 2.0, I have the luxury now of enjoying a fresh cup of coffee when I want to and a pot of coffee to guests at a moment’s notice.  There’s no mess of coffee grinds, cleaning out the machine, and the worry of remembering to buy filters.  Making coffee has never been easier, nor has it tasted so good in our home.
