The LG HomBot is on our Top Tech Gift Ideas for Moms list this year. It’s an impressive self-vacuuming and dust-mopping robot with two cameras that is intent on getting its job done. Great for tile, hardwood, and carpets, the LG HomBot is your little helper that never complains.
A round squarish device with a low profile, the LG HomBot comes with 1/2 inch long side brushes on its front two sides to sweep up debris…even in the toughest areas…like corners.
The underbelly of the LG HomBot, you can see the two side brush spinners, main brush, and there’s a camera at the bottom of this picture. But guess what? No dust pan. Instead, it’s accessible from the top of the HomBot for easy retrieval.
The LG HomBot vacuum does a great job cleaning and is the most innovative vacuum robot we’ve used. But what really surprised me was its two cameras. Why does a vacuum robot need two cameras? To watch out for pets??? No.
The LG HomBot’s revolutionary Dual Eye 2.0 mapping system, ie…the two cameras…is designed to learn your home’s layout so that it can cover the designated area as thoroughly as possible. Pretty cool, huh?
So the LG HomBot actually learns your home’s layout for future cleanings. Although the LG HomBot can still bump into things, its bumper guard minimizes disruption and with its advanced mapping system, it learns to work around stationary furniture.
Need a quick cleaning or a more thorough cleaning? The LG HomBot has 7 modes of cleanings.
7 Modes of Cleaning
The LG HomBot features 7 different types of cleaning modes:
- Zigzag – In Zigzag mode, the HomBot zigzags through each spot of the cleaning area. Select the Zigzag mode to quickly clean an area
- Cell by Cell – Provides meticulous cleaning. In this mode, HomBot divides the area to be cleaned into rectangular spaces
- Spot – Spot mode cleans the area where it is placed within a 41/2 ft diameter
- My Space – Lets you set the space you want cleaned through use of the remote control
- Turbo – Provides a more intense cleaning, a powerful clean but reduces the battery duration
- Smart Turbo – automatically adjusts to surface cleaning environment
- Repeat – Repeats the cleaning in progress until the battery runs out, without returning to the home station

A Mom’s Perspective
Nearly the entire bottom floor of my house is tile. It’s a lot of work to keep up and quite frankly, I’m not the best housekeeper. But we have people over a lot…and most have kids, so we often have crumbs and chip pieces on our floors…not to mention my own family messes. Stooping down to pick up a dropped crumb is not their forte.
But I don’t stress over it. I keep the LG HomBot in the kitchen and have put it on a schedule. Every other day it sweeps up the kitchen floors and keeps them crumb-free…which is a disappointment to our new puppies. Curly, our more mischievous one, keeps scouring the floor looking for delicious morsels. She’s only lucky if someone is eating in the kitchen at the given moment!
With LG HomBot on it’s schedule, I don’t even think about the floors much. Our dining room has hardwood flooring. To keep it looking fresh, I can install the included dust mop cloth to rid of any dust.
Although I base my vacuuming on the kitchen, I take the LG HomBot to any place in the house I need for a cleaning. I suggested my son use it in our pantry when he accidentally spilled rice all over the floor. He just turned it on, closed the door, and let it go to work. It worked beautifully.
The LG HomBot works great on my low grade carpet upstairs. I just press a button and off it goes. The only issue I have is with our furry shag rug. It’s long shaft tufts get instantly tangled in the rotating side brushes, shutting down the HomBot. I have to keep the HomBot away from the rug, as it hasn’t learned to stay away on its own.
Moms are known for their incredible multi-tasking abilities, but it would certainly help to have an extra pair of hands. The LG HomBot is the help you’ve been looking for. With its dual cameras, mounted on the top and bottom, LG HomBot maps the area around your home to ensure it won’t miss a spot!
