7 Kitchen Appliances To Make Life Easier

7-small-appliances-with-big-convenience

There are so many different kitchen appliances available today, it gets overwhelming!  I’m sure if you did a count of the number of appliances in your kitchen, it would be at least 10.  We have reviewed a number of fun and/or helpful kitchen appliances at WellConnectedMom and there are a number of them that still get used on a regular basis.

WeMo Crockpot

WeMo Crock-Pot

The WeMo Crockpot is the only remote-controlled crockpot on the market!  Yes, you heard right, it’s remote-controlled!  Simply put your ingredients in this 6 quart, dishwasher-safe crockpot and push the button for cooking on High, Low, or Warm.

Carry about your day and if you find out unepectedly, that everyone in the family can now be all together for dinner at 5pm, instead of the usual 7:00pm, you can open your WeMo app and change the crockpot from Low to High. When your dinner is ready you’ll receive a notification on your phone.

Of course, usually, it’s the other way around.  You find out that your son’s game went into overtime.  From the football bleachers, you can adjust your crockpot to Warm instead of Low.  A great convenience for today’s busy families.

The WeMo Crock-Pot is a helpful kitchen appliance with an app and  available at Walmart for $129.99.

Crockpot Casserole Crock

vegetable noodle

We are big fans of the convenience of crockpots.  The Crockpot Casserole Crock is unlike any crockpot you’ve seen before.

The 3.5 quart Crockpot Casserole Crock with oven-safe stoneware is 9 in. by 13 inches, sized perfectly for casserole dishes.  This great looking crockpot makes your casseroles look delicious, not soupy or runny like most deep-bowled crockpots.  And with it’s built-in “cook & carry” locking lid system, your can take your Crockpot Casserole Crock on the go with you without worry of your casserole spilling.

Serve right out of the casserole crock in this stylish looking crockpot, keeping your food warm while plugged in.  Craving some extra crunchiness?  Just pop your casserole crock in the oven to crisp it up, as the crockpot crock is ovenproof.  If you love crockpots and want to change the look of crocpot dishes, this small kitchen appliance is for you!

The Crock-Pot Casserole Crock Slow Cooker is reasonably priced at $34.68 at Walmart plus shipping.

Tiger Rice Cooker

Tiger Japanese Rice Cooker

If you don’t make much rice in your home right now, you’re missing out.  My family LOVES white rice – they could eat it everyday if I made it for them.  Before I had a rice cooker, I bought the prepackaged flavored rice packets at the grocery.  Not anymore!

There are basically, there are two different types of rice cookers…

The cheaper ones are larger and typically can cook more cups of rice, but they are based on a timed system.  It will always take the same amount of time to cook white rice, brown rice, etc., dependent upon the number of cups of rice you cook.

The second, more advanced rice cooker is smaller and uses fuzzy logic, or in Tiger’s case, they call it the Automatic Cooking Logic system, making it a “smart” rice cooker.  The built-in microprocessor constantly measures the temperature and humidity to sense when the rice is complete.

Cooking rice can vary dependent upon the exact amount of rice or water put in…as well as the type of rice.  The built-in cooking logic can help  create the best fluffiest rice for your meal.

I have used the lower cost rice cooker before and found that when the rice warmed for a while before serving, it tended to crust up a bit and the top layer became dry.  This did not happen with the Tiger Rice Cooker.

The Tiger JBAT10UW Rice Cooker can be found at Amazon for $109.45 plus free shipping.

Farberware Air Fryer

do air fryers work

Do you like crispy food but don’t like the fat and grease a deep fryer makes?  We recently tried out the Farberware Air Fryer and were pleased with how it cooks.  With it’s large frying basket and rapid hot air circulation, you can actually achieve a nice crisp to your french fries, chicken nuggets, and more.

You can also cook seasoned chicken breasts and achieve a moist and tasty main course…without having to heat up your oven.  In fact, you can even bake a cake in it!

Air fryers use little to no oil, dependent upon what you are cooking.  Most frozen fries you buy already have oil on them, so you just pop them in your fryer.

Air fryers are much cleaner and less hazardous than deep fryers, as they are cool to the touch and there is no extremely hot oil to handle or dispose of.  Our family loves making our own thicker potato chips in it.

The Farberware Air Fryer is a useful small appliance, available at your local Walmart or at Walmart.com for $79.00 with free shipping.

Mr. Coffee Iced Tea Maker

fresh brewed iced tea

What is your go-to refreshing drink each day? Have you thought of having a nice glass of iced tea?  I drink a multiple glasses of green iced tea every day.  Green tea has been shown to lower cholesterol, improve blood flow, and increase your metabolism.

I used to make my own tea every couple of days using tea bags and a pot on my stove.  Until I found the simple Mr. Coffee Iced Tea Maker.  The process is so much faster now and I yield more tea than I used to…which lasts me longer.  The Mr. Coffee Iced Tea maker allows you to brew tea bags or tea leaves and it’s easy to add fresh fruits or other flavors to enhance your tea.

Tea is heated up and dispensed into a 3 quart, dishwasher safe pitcher for easy serving.  And for under $20, you can’t beat the convenience this small kitchen appliance brings you.

The Mr. Coffee Fresh Tea Iced Tea Maker sells for $19.94 at Walmart.

Black & Decker Electric Knife

#WMTMoms carve the turkey kitchen appliance

Now I’m sure when you think of kitchen appliances, an electric knife doesn’t come to mind.  You won’t use an electric knife often, but when you do, it is extremely helpful.  Think large roasts, hams, and your Butterball turkey!

The Black & Decker Electric Knife is the smallest of kitchen appliances and it really slices beautifully through any meats and gives you amazing accuracy with regards to the thickness of slice.  My husband can cut nearly paper thin slices of turkey and we get such beautiful slices for our serving platter.

Honestly, my husband was never a big fan of cutting the turkey before, but once I got him the Black & Decker knife, (aka a power tool), he looks forward to it!  Watch our video of the knife in action in our review.

The Black & Decker Electric Knife is well-priced at Walmart for only $11.96.

Foobot

indoor air quality kitchen appliance

OK, Foobot is not a kitchen appliance, but it is very helpful in the kitchen.  Foobot’s main purpose is to measure your indoor air quality and make the pollution visible.  How?  By the LED lights showing on the front of the unit.

When Foobot determines that your indoor air quality is good, it’s blue.  When it turns orange, you’ll need to turn on your air conditioner or open some windows.   Foobot measures particulate matter, volatile organic compounds, carbon dioxide, humidity, and temperature.

I admit that I have not been very aware of how cooking and cleaning dramatically affects the air and what we are breathing in.  Foobot sits in our kitchen and when it lights up orange, I begin opening up windows.  But I’m not the only one, the kids do to, as Foobot has made them become more aware of poor air conditions.

Foobot is available through the Foobot website for $199, including free shipping.
