There are a lot of ways to listen to music nowadays. Bluetooth makes is possible to connect to your phone wirelessly and play your music to a number of different wireless speakers on the market. Monster recently came out with a new wireless speaker with an interesting name…Firecracker!
Now, when I think if firecracker, two words come to mind. The first is loud! The second is a blitz of light. And I have to say, the new Monster Firetracker wireless speaker actually does live up to its name.
What is the Monster Firecracker Wireless Speaker?
The Monster Firecracker looks just like a baby boombox and it is a baby replica of it’s predecessor, the Monster Blaster. Weighing in at only a pound, the Monster Firecracker wireless speaker can certainly crank out a lot of powerful sound. With its round oblong yet triangular shape, there is a metal grill around most of the body, allowing for great sound to come out from all directions.
The shape of the Monster Firecracker wireless speaker is so unique because you can place it down in any way, even on its end and it still stands one it’s own, it is very well designed. I turned my music as high as I could, using both the volume on my phone and the volume on the speaker, and found this little but mighty wireless speaker to be quite loud. Although, it loses some of its clarity when turned at the highest volume.
So, the loud sound helps the Firecracker living up to its name. What about the spark or light? Interestingly enough, the Monster Firecracker wireless speaker incorporates a 5000k 500 lumen Photolite – which gives its user a more natural light when taking pictures. Yes, that’s right, pictures is the main purpose for this light. The beam is pretty directed, but very bright. I think it’s better suited for adding light to objects…than to people.
Of course, the Photolite can be used as a flashlight as well, great for camping, night beaching, or any activity in darkness. Monster claims that the battery life while using the light is 7+ hours and 25+ hours if just listening to music.
It’s very easy to use, just press the power button on for 4 seconds and the Monster Firecracker wireless speaker will tell you that you are in pairing mode. Look for the Firecracker in your Bluetooth settings on your phone, click on it, and the Firecracker will tell you that you’re paired.
Turn off the speaker by pressing the multi-function power button for 2 seconds. You can use this same power button to receive calls on speaker phone.

A Mom’s Perspective
There are a lot of wireless speakers on the market, we know, we’ve tested a number of them. So how do you choose? Think about how you’d use your wireless speaker the most. Outside by the pool? By the beach? On day trips? While cooking? If there’s water around, looking for a waterproof speaker is a good idea.
If you’re a mom, you’re a multitasker. And if you’re like me, you appreciate things that multitask as well. I love that the Monster Firecracker wireless speaker was built with multitasking in mind. Yes, you can listen to music with it, but you can also use the light to enhance your photos of friends or family…inside a room or outside at night.
Not a picture taker? No worries, use the light as a flashlight, instead of draining your cellphone battery, to see in the dark. And with its lightweight portability, you can easily slip it into your purse or backpack and use it when you need it.
In addition to listening to music, I have been using the Monster Firecracker wireless speaker as a sound enhancer to my portable PC. With the Odyssey of the Mind group of kids I coach, I show them various videos online and have found that the PC’s sound isn’t loud enough. The Monster Firecracker easily connects to my All-in-One PC via Bluetooth, and I can have the speaker in the middle of the table so the kids can hear off the PC perfectly. The Firecracker has so many uses.
The Monster Firecracker’s built-in microphone will even let you take hands-free calls. It’s multitasking at its best. We have had the chance to review some of the Firecracker’s sister products, the BackFloat floating speaker (super fun!), the Superstar Bluetooth Speaker, and N-Tune On Ear Headphones, all of which have are great sounding products.
* I was given a Monster Firecracker for purposes of review. All opinions are my own.
