I’ll be the first to admit that I’m not up-to-speed on which vitamins I should be taking. Doesn’t a multi-vitamin take care of it all? But if you think of it, how can one multi-vitamin take care of all the needs of a person who is pregnant, versus one who is nursing, versus one who is pre-menopausal, versus one who is menopausal? Or how about someone who has a Iron deficiency due to Anemia or a genetic disposition to intestinal or bone weakness?
As our bodies goes through different stages, so does our need for different levels of nutrients. Sometimes we may need to supplement our vitamin regiment due to these stages, new diagnosis, ailments, etc.
Walmart.com’s VitaSelect
To get a better understanding of vitamins, minerals, or supplements I should consider taking, I visited the VitaSelect section of Walmart.com. VitaSelect gives you the opportunity to take a quick survey and based on your answers, it will give you a priority list of recommended products.
First, you’re given a 19 question survey that takes only 1-2 minutes to complete. Immediately afterwards, you will receive your suggestions.
Not surprisingly, VitaSelect recommended that I take more vitamins in addition to the daily multi-vitamin. And I’m not at all surprised by the Vitamin D recommendation. In fact, earlier this year my doctor called me about my blood test results and said I was very low in Vitamin D. He wanted me to begin taking it right away.
I love that each suggestion tells you a synopsis about the vitamin after clicking on the +Learn more link. The description tells you what the vitamin is important as well as important allergy info. such weather there is milk, gluten, soy, or added preservatives contained in the formula.
Based on these VitaSelect recommendations, I visited my local Walmart to pick up these what I needed. I already am using a multi-vitamin and Vitamin D (on most days). Vitamins I needed ranged from $4.50 up to $12, dependent upon the vitamin and how many capsules in the bottle. As you can see from this picture, Walmart carries a large selection of vitamins, minerals, and supplements. Everything is stocked in alphabetical order, so finding the vitamins wasn’t too hard.
How are you doing on your vitamin regiment? Take the VitaSelect survey to see how you can support optimal health in your life. And while you’re there, find out more information about vitamins from Walmart’s Vitamins Wellness Center online.
I believe taking a vitamin supplement is part of a healthy lifestyle. Finding the right vitamins to take care be a problem for most people. Taking vitamin packs for specific reasons can be helpful.
