Back to School with Clorox Products

by Lori Cunningham

The DailyBuzz Moms Tastemaker program recently asked if I would be interested in reviewing their Back-to-School themed products.  The kit included  samples from Brita, Clorox Disinfecting Wipes, and Glad Food Storage products.

What intrigued me was the Brita Bottle Water Filtration System.  I have a soft spot for Green products and the Brita Bottle Water Bottle states that its use can replace 150 plastic bottles intrigued me, so I signed up.

The Brita Bottle Walter Filtration System

First, allow me to start with the Brita Bottle Walter Filtration System.  This 20 oz Brita bottle is BPA free, dishwasher

safe, and it reduces chlorine from the water due to it’s enclosed filter.  What I like about the Brita bottle is that now you can go anywhere and fill up your bottle – you no longer worry about the containments in the water.  Think of it…the park, the gym, the fair, amusement parks… no worries.

I filled the Brita Bottle  with water from my refrigerator. I haven’t changed the filter in the refrigerator for over two years. Now I can feel more secure about the water my son drinks during his football practice.  Better yet, once he (and his sister who watches) empties the bottle, I can refill it at the park water fountain now and not worry about bad taste anymore.  Wow.

My daughter is itching to try it at her school.  She likes to keep a bottle of water at her desk and loves the idea of using refilling up the bottle with the playground drinking fountain and no longer worrying about its taste.

The filter lasts for 128 servings..which can equate to 20 gallons or 2 months, so it’s will take a while before I need to change it.  I avoid purchasing filled water bottles.  I prefer to reuse water bottles to save the environment and save money.   Love this idea.

Clorox Disinfecting Wipes

The Clorox disinfecting wipes are already a staple in our house.  Recently, we put up our house for sale.  For those of you

who have gone through the house selling process, you know that you can receive a call any minute for a quick showing of your house.  Fortunately, I’ve trained the kids fairly well at keeping their toys picked up, but it’s the last-minute cleaning that needs to be done fast.  I love the Clorox disenfecting wipes to make the counter spotless.  And before each Open House, our children are given a Clorox disinfecting wipe ensure the bathrooms are spiffy.  They LOVE using these cloths.  It’s fun for them and reduces the workload for me.

We also used the Clorox disinfecting wipes to clean the interior of our cars during car washing day.  We don’t wash our cars often enough, so the wipes get pretty dirty.  Nonetheless, the wipes are very sturdy and don’t tear when you use them for tough jobs like between the seats.

Glad To Go Lunch Containers

The Glad ToGo lunch containers I first eyed at BlogHer last month in San Diego.    They are 32 oz. containers with a 1.5 oz.

Grilled Cheese and Ketchup Anyone?

mini container built-in to the lid.  I love this idea.  It’s perfect for salads.  You can put your salad dressing in the 1.5 oz. lid so it doesn’t wilt the lettuce.  Brilliant.  I don’t often need to pack my lunch, but I love the idea of prepacking salads for my lunches at home.  That way, when I’m blogging and don’t want to spend a lot of time fixing lunch, I can reach in the fridge for my pre-made salad and dressing…presto!  Now, I will start sending chicken salads with my daughter for her lunch too – she’s really going to enjoy something different other than turkey sandwiches, quesadillas, and leftovers.

To my surprise, my kindergartener son, asked if he could take one of my salads in the Glad To Go containers.  He just loves the dressing and wanted to take my chicken spinach salad INSTEAD of his usual peanut butter & jelly sandwich.  As he was packing it into his lunchbox I saw him trying to open the lid.  I asked him what he was doing and he said he wanted to ensure he could open it himself at lunchtime.  He opened it just fine.

The Glad to Go lunch containers would be good for soup also.  I can see putting oyster crackers in the 1.5 oz. mini container to keep them crisp.  Or I’ll bet putting yogurt in the larger container and crisp granola in the smaller container, yum.  I’m eager to try out other creative ways to use these containers.

The Clorox Back-to-School kit would not be what I typically think about when thinking “Back-to-School,” but the timing of this kit was certainly handy.
