After a whirlwind weekend of attending BlogHer, a mostly woman blogger conference in San Jose, I couldn’t wait to come back and report to you some of the best tech from BlogHer. BlogHer is a conference involving lots of speakers to help you utilize social media better, reach further audiences, and hone in on your writing skills. But along with the speakers, there’s an brand expo that features everything from diapers to cleaning supplies to Baskin-Robbins (one of my faves) to appliances.
Here are a few of my favorite finds, the best tech from BlogHer this year…
Best Tech from BlogHer ’14
Nescafe Dolce Gusto
The Nescafe Dolce Gusto machines are little coffee powerhouses that delivers an awesome cup of espresso, macchiato, cappuccino, even ice tea. We had the opportunity to try numerous specialty drinks at BlogHer. I tried the Caramel Latte Macchiato and it was extremely good. The Nescafe Dolce Gusto is a capsule based, single-serving system that delivers cafe quality drinks in mere seconds. For the specialty drinks using milk, you first put a milk capsule into the Dolce Gusto machine and press the hot button. Next, you remove the capsule and insert the flavored coffee and press the hot button again. Now you have a beautiful, frothy looking drink that reminds you of a store-bought specialty coffee.
There are a number of Nescafe Dolce Gusto coffee machines to choose from, ranging from $99 to $179. Boxes of capsules are sold by flavor and contain both the specialty coffee and milk capsules, dependent upon the flavor you choose. Flavor boxes (enough to make 8 cups) sell for $9.49 each. Right now, Nescafe is having a promotion for their GENIO machine and 5 boxes of flavors for $129.99, which is a $45+ savings.
Cuisinart Baby Bottle Sterilizer
I wish the Cuisinart Baby Bottle Sterilizer was around when I had young babies. After washing your baby bottles, place them in the Cuisinart Baby Bottle Sterilizer and pour in some water to sterilize. It can fit up to six half or full-size bottles and there’s even room on top to sterilize pacifiers, spoons, and breast feeding supplies.
Because of its size, you can keep the Cuisinart Baby Bottle Sterilizer anywhere – upstairs or down. Cuisinart has a number of helpful baby items in their baby line including a Bottle Warmer and a Baby Food Maker/Bottle Warmer. The Cuisinart Baby Bottle Sterilizer sells for $59.95 from Cuisinart.com.
On to larger appliances. It’s no secret that I am a Samsung fan. My phones and TV’s are Samsung. So I had a blast at the Samsung Appliances both, there were so many fun things to look at and I love the technology that stands behind the products. These appliances take care of many of the issues we have around the kitchen and baby’s room…so we don’t have to.
Samsung had a good number of appliances to see, but I choose only my favorite ones to tell you about…
Samsung Baby Care Washer
Here’s another great baby appliance to make life easier. Samsung’s Baby Care Washer is only a 1 cubic fit washer that carefully washes baby’s delicate laundry, including a Super Sanitize cycle to remove stubborn stains and bacteria. This is great, now you can treat baby’s clothing separate from the rest of the family, which is especially great when dealing with soiled clothing. The Baby Care Washer can handle small loads up to 6 lbs. The washer can be drained into sinks and adapted to faucets, so you can keep the unit closer to baby’s room, making the job of cleaning baby’s clothes more efficient.
The Silver model, WB09H7300GP/A1 sells for $699 and the White model sells for $599.
Samsung French Door Food ShowCase Refrigerator
French Doors are still king with consumers loving the ability to see all their food at once with the convenience of two doors. But now you can also have the flexibility of two drawers including a central door for easy access for the kids and a lower drawer for the freezer. The Food Showcase refrigerator, with its spacious 30 cu ft. and Smart Divider adjustable shelving, makes it easy to store your food securely yet easily find what you’re looking for. Use the middle drawer to keep the kids favorite snacks easily accessible or use it for wine storage.
There is also an outside mini door to easily access your top favorite beverages and condiments without having to open the entire refrigerator, letting essential cold air out. This is another great option for people with kids. I can’t tell you how long my kids keep the refrigerator door open to get their drinks.
Another thing we like is the Twin Cooling Plus feature, usually found on more expensive custom home type refrigerators, which keeps the humidity level higher for fruits and vegetables in the refrigerator while keeping the temperature setting dryer to help lessen freezer burn. Most refrigerators only have one cooling engine that works for both the freezer and the fridge.
The external water and ice dispenser can produce up to 10 lbs of ice each day and is located in the door, maximizing freezer space.
The French Door Food ShowCase costs $4199 for the 36″ wide refrigerator, $3999 for the 36″ wide no ice refrigerator, and $3599 for the 36″ 28 cu. ft. refrigerator.
Samsung Dishwasher with WaterWall
Samsung’s new WaterWall technology powerfully cleans every dish in the washer. Utilizing maximum cleaning pressure, the WaterWall technology can clean dishes up to 35% stronger than rotary systems. And if you’re tired of needing different washes for different types of dishes, Samsung’s new Zone Boost can gently wash fine china along with dirty pots and pans on the bottom rack. Even with a full dish load of up to 15 place settings, the entire load is cleaned in 60 minutes, a reduction of 25% compared to normal dishwashers.
The DW80H9950US SAMSUNG Dishwasher with WaterWall sells for $1,499.
Samsung Electric Range with Flex Duo Oven
Do you ever wish you had the room in your house for a double oven but you just don’t have the space? Will now you can with Samsung’s new 5.8 cu. ft. Slide-In Electric Range with Flex Duo Oven. It’s a normal looking range/oven, but upon opening the door, you discover there is a thick metal sheet that divides the top of the oven and the bottom. You now have two ovens, one that is 2.4 cu. ft. and the other that is 3.3 cu. ft. with the Smart Divider. Cook one dish in the top part of the oven at 425 degrees while cooking the dish in the lower part of the oven at 250 degrees. And because the oven is also a Dual Convection, it cooks 30% faster than conventional ovens.
Have a large turkey to cook? No problem, just slide out the Smart Divider and you have a full-size oven. The five burner cook top overs different heating element sizes to accommodate different sized pans as well as heat a larger pan or casserole dish easily.
After seeing the Flex Duo Oven, I created a quick video to report on what I saw in the Samsung booth…
The Samsung Chef Collection NE58H9950WS Slide-In Electric Range with Flex Duo Oven sells for $2,499.
Despite being in the tech mecca of the United States, San Jose, CA, BlogHer failed at bringing in many technology sponsors, I was quite disappointed in this. Nonetheless, I was very happy at the array of products Cuisinart, Nescafe, and Samsung brought to the table.
Curious about BlogHer and what it was like this year? We made a brief fun video to show you the action…
* This is a partly sponsored post containing some products I would have added in this post anyway.
