One of our favorite family video games is Just Dance. Every year we look forward to the latest release to dance to current and oldies fave songs.
Recently, Just Dance 2018 was released. Perfect time for Fall and cooler weather, when we don’t make it outside as much due to cooler weather and the sun setting earlier.
Two Great Things I Like About Just Dance:
- It’s a lot of fun – we have a great time as a family and with friends
- It counts as exercise! It’s a great way to slip in exercise for the entire family without them even realizing it!
We have a tradition each year to debut the latest Just Dance video game at our annual New Year’s Eve party. Everyone who comes knows we’re going to dance!
What was originally planned for the adults has become more of a kids’ tradition, as my son and his 11-12-year-old friends tend to hog the dance floor most of the time.
With great effort, I can sneak in the women onto the dance floor (after putting out a plate of fresh cookies on the kitchen counter for the boys!).
At the very end of the night, my daughter and her teenage friends take their place on the dance floor (with the boys sneaking in behind them!).
We danced, we pant, we laugh hard. It energizes everyone who plays as we each try to better our score with each new dance. Do we know all the songs? No, but the music is upbeat and pumping…the same with our hearts as we bust our moves!
Needless to say, it’s a very fun night and a way to build memories with our friends and family.
So, what’s included in the latest Just Dance 2018?
Just Dance 2018
Lots of new songs in Just Dance 2018. Dance to “24K Magic,” by Bruno Mars, “Side to Side,” by Ariana Grande, and other fun ones like the Carmen Overture (think Bad News Bears theme song), Disney Moana’s “How Fari I’ll Go” and “Polka Dot Bikini.”
Just Dance is the biggest music video game franchise of all time, selling over 63 million games. Its funky and hip graphics have great appeal for young and old.
And for the Nintendo Switch version, Just Dance 2018 supports up to six players using the Joy-Con controller or the free Just Dance Controller app (more on this later).
Also exclusive to the Nintendo Switch, there is a Mario dance and new two-handed choreographies to support the new Joy-Con controller with HD Rumble technology.
The last newest feature is Kids Mode.
Kids Mode
New this year is the Kids Mode which improves the dance experience for younger children. Kids Mode features 8 songs adapted for children aged 3-6 with easier dancing choreographies created by child development experts.
Providing easier ways to navigate through the songs, Kids Mode encourages kids with positive feedback, more rewards, and easier scoring. It also includes friendly characters and fun colorful visuals that tell a story.
More Controllers
Just dance can support more than just the two people holding your controllers. Get more family and friends in the action by having them download the free Just Dance Controller App on their phone. The app acts as a controller that scores and tracks your moves. The app can connect to your gaming console via your WiFi network.
