As a Galaxy S3 lover and user, I could not wait to find out more about the upcoming Galaxy S4 phone. Samsung touted the new benefits of the Galaxy S4 phone to the press in a pack-filled theater at the famous Radio City Music Hall in New York last week. Is the Galaxy S4 bigger and more improved? Yes, the new technical specs make the Galaxy once again the best in its class. Here are a few specs to share:
Nuts and Bolts:
- a 5″ screen (versus the S3’s 4.8″)
- O.31 in thickness (versus O.31 S3)
- the screen is 1920 by 1280 pixels, and 441 pixels per inch (compared to 306 on the S3)
- 13 megapixel camera (the S3 has 8 megapixels)
- Android Jelly Bean (4.2.2) operating system
- big 2600mAh battery (much bigger than the S3’s 2100mAh battery)
- quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor
- 2 GB RAM memory
- SD Micro slot to expand memory up to 64GB
A phone’s specs are important, but really, once you own the phone, how are you going to use it and what makes it worth the upgrade? Samsung knows how integrated our phones have become in our lives. We use our phones for entertainment, capturing memories, play, and often times, it’s our lifeline to trying to make our chaotic world less frazzled. With this in mind, Samsung is introducing a slew of new features to make our lives more productive, playful, and connected.
Features You Can Use:
o Sound and Shot – if enacted, hear what was going on when you took a picture
o Dual Camera – take a picture or video of someone/something and the camera records you and places you in the picture/video at the same time
o Drama Shot – take a series of pictures and fold them together into one unique shot
o Group Play – share music, documents, photos, videos, and games together simultaneously by linking up you and your friends’ Galaxy S4 phones together
o Story Album – the Galaxy S4 can automatically format your pictures on specific events or in a customized format to create a story album about the event
o S Translator – language barriers have been broken down with the ability to text or type in a sentence and S Translator translates it into 9 different languages. World travel has never been so fun
o Chat On – with the dual camera, now you can show your friends where you are as well as the expressions of your face. It’s Samsung’s version of Skype, only better
o Smart Pause – the Galaxy S4 will automatically pause your video if you look away
o S Drive – when enacted, a simpler interface with bigger fonts and easily identifiable symbols to help you make calls, answer calls, get directions, and more without having to take your hands off the wheel
o Watch On – using it’s built-in IR signal processing, your Samsung Galaxy S4 becomes your remote in controlling your TV or set top boxes. It will even make program suggestions based on your preferences
o S Health – tracks your workouts, daily intake, and weight levels through various accessories (available for sale). It can even track your comfort level by measuring the air’s temperature and humidity.
Dual Camera allows you to be in the picture. With ChatOn, your surroundings can be seen during video chat. Drama Shot allows you to stitch together several shots in one.
Story Board allows you to create electronic photo albums surrounding an event. S Health monitors all sorts of activities to help you be more aware of your activity and potential.
The new Samsung Galaxy S4 will become available in April, available in Black Mist or White Frost. Expect to see it soon through AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon.
