In our article earlier this month, AVG Digital Protection 2014 Product Launch Event, we mentioned that AVG has a number of helpful and productive free mobile apps for your phone. I have already downloaded all of them and have found them to be most useful in keeping my phone free from viruses, helping to cut down on clutter that slows down my phone, saving my battery, as well as gaining better insight on Facebook and LinkedIn’s “privacy” policies.
Here’s a brief description of each. These apps are available only on Android, although there are two free iPhone apps two, which we list at the bottom of this article.
AVG AntiVirus FREE for Android
- Surf the web securely
- Download apps without worry
- Protect your data and privacy
- Has the ability to track your lost or stolen phone
AVG TuneUp for Android
- Helps you choose power saving choices to help your battery last longer
- Allows you to view and close apps and tasks that are slowing your phone down
- Helps you monitor your data usage and shows you which programs are data hogs
AVG Cleaner for Android
- Frees up memory by deleting cached memory – shows you which apps use the largest cache
- Easily delete old call and text message history
- Gives you the option to monitor device memory and storage
- Allows you to set up automatic cleanups to keep the phone running well (daily or weekly)
AVG Uninstaller for Android
- Shows you apps to delete based on last time used in last 7 days
- Review and delete apps that use more battery in the last 7 days
- Review and delete apps that use more of your mobile data quota for last 7 days
AVG Image Shrinker for Android
- Tells you how many pictures are on your phone
- Allows you to hand select which pictures to shrink (with 4 options to choose from, or to a customized size)
- Share with your favorite social sites, email, or online picture storage sites
AVG PrivacyFix
This is a brand new cool app that takes you through all of the privacy mumbo jumbo to see when you check a box, you know what you’re checking it for. AVG PrivacyFix covers privacy policies for Facebook, LinkedIn, and Google. It helps you make educated decisions. For example, you can make yourself “invisible” when you visit other people’s profiles on LinkedIn, they will not be alerted. The downside, is that you will not be alerted when other people visit your profile. Interesting. PrivacyFix is a must have app in helping you make the right privacy choices for yourself and your children.
