Getting a Grip on Your Phone

HANDeBand™

I have reviewed different ways to keep your phone “connected” to you so you don’t drop it or lose it, particularly with the iKeep and iKeep charger.  But the iKeep, which has a smaller profile than the iKeep Charger, only works for iPhone’s, so those with an Android are out of luck.

I recently came across a device that can be used on all smartphones, readers, and even tablets.  It’s called the HANDeBand*, and it’s an attachable accessory that connects securely to the back of your phone.  Once attached, you can slip your finger into it and hold your phone more securely.

When I first saw it I thought to myself, “nah, I don’t need it.”  Then I went to BlogHer, where I was constantly looking at my phone, replying to email’s, checking my schedule, using the map features, and texting.  I remember thinking, “boy, I could have used the HANDeBand now!”  The HANDeBand helps stabilize your phone so it’s easier to hold and type or scroll on your phone with one hand.

The HANDeBand is ideal for:

  • securely holding your phone
  • texting and emailing faster and with more ease
  • taking better photos and videos with a more stable hand
  • watching picture slide shows or videos as it keeps your phone upright either horizontally or vertically as a kickstand
  • right-hander’s or left-hander’s, offering a 360 degree rotation for your finger direction for comfort and use

After using the HANDeBand for a couple of weeks, I loved it, I only had one major concern.  The profile of the finger band is too big to fit well in my pocket, or if it did fit into one of my pockets, it protruded out too much.  Upon further investigation of the website, I found that HANDeBand already thought of that and the finger band grip slides out of the base.  The base is only 1/8″ high, and easily fitting into a pocket.  The finger band grip can be placed into another pocket.  Perfect!

When you buy the HANDeBand, you get both a single finger band and double finger band grip plus the base.  The double finger band is ideal for eReaders and tablets, which are heavier, needing a second finger.  The double finger band grip is the same size and profile of the single grip, with the exception of the extra finger grip.

A Mom’s Perspective

I admit it, I’m a clutz.  I received a new phone last year at BlogHer.  It didn’t last a week before I dropped it in a parking lot and the glass cracked.  I was crushed.  To be honest, I have dropped my phone more times than I care to remember, I have just been very blessed that the screen didn’t break.  But with the HANDeBand, I feel much more confident that my phone is secure.  It is very comfortable to wear for long periods and can be adjusted easily by turning the finger grip to get just the angle I need.

I like how the HANDeBand works with my kids as well.  Though their fingers are smaller, it gives them more stability when handling my phone, which is always a plus.  I love the fact that the finger grip can slide easily off so I can put my phone in my pocket again too!  And that now I have a built-in stand to hold my phone upright either when sitting at my desk, watching a movie on my phone, or using a recipe from AllRecipes.com.  I love that the HANDeBand is so versatile.

The HANDeBand sells for 28.95 plus approximately $3-$5 for shipping in the US, available from the HANDeBand website.  I checked Amazon.com, but it is not yet selling at their website.

*  I was given a HANDeBand 2-pack (phone and tablet) to try out and review if I liked the product.  It’s a keeper!
