Google Trends: What Is Everyone Searching For?

See what people are searching for on Google Trends. Search keywords, by year, compare keywords or events, or review fun graphics Google created.

Google makes a free analysis tool called Google Trends that gives you real-time and trending stats on searches people are conducting on Google.

It’s really a fascinating tool to fuel your curiosity, business analysis, or your kids’ school projects.

Simply type in a word, topic, or question and Google Trends will display a number representing how many searches occurred for that topic in the past hour, 30 days, or since 2008!

You can even do comparisons.  For example, I typed in Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch to see which one is searched for the most.

Xbox is trailing behind.  Upon further investigation, you can also see other querries people searched for when searching for these consoles and how much of it is related to the games played on the console.

The numbers shown in this chart show interest on a scale of 0 to 100, with 100 being the peak point of popularity for the term and 0 pointing to the fact there is no enough data for this term, meaning very few searches.

Right now Google Trends has some interesting results from the searches stemming from The Emmy’s.

This chart above shows how Emmy winners were searched on Google, even up to a week after the show was broadcasted.

These graphics show the Emmy winning TV shows and which ones were more popular in the searches.

The clear winner, in terms of searches across the US, was Game of Thrones.

Google Trends changes its homepage every so often to show different ways people are searching for something.  A great way to find out about trends and it’s free.
