Last night I did something I’ve never done. I took my kids to Walmart until 1am on a school night! In fact, we didn’t even leave the house until 11:40m! I was that bad mom…and the cool mom all at the same time!
You see, today is Force Friday – the big marketing day retailers and brands have created to mark the first day of sales for the upcoming movie, Star Wars :The Force Awakens. Our family is a big fan of the Star Wars movies and although we could have waited until today to see all of the great Star Wars toys and fun accessories…there’s just something about being one of the first to see it.
I’m not sure which excited my kids the most, the anticipation of seeing all the new Star Wars merchandise, or the fact that they got to stay up LATE on a school night!
Anyways, let me get right to it. Walmart has a wide assortment of Star Wars: The Force Awakens items and in fact, there are some items that are only available at Walmart. Walamart and Walmart.com will carry over 500 new Star Wars items…from toys to apparel…and even themed groceries.
Star Wars Walmart Exclusive
Last night, Walmart gave out a limited edition Star Wars Galactic Connexxions trading disc game packet by Topps to shoppers across it’s 2,900 participating stores. The Topps game is a collectible trading disc game that features various Stars Wars characters from various Star Wars movies.
We were eager to open up the Topps discs because we knew that Walmart would be awarding an ultra-rare 14 carat gold disk or a Star Wars room makeover to customers who found one of four special redemption discs. We didn’t win, but the discs are very sturdy and make for great collector items. My son took his discs to school to impress his friends on #ForceFriday.
What’s In Store at Walmart
When we got to Walmart, there was already a line forming with about 40 people eagerly waiting to buy all the new Star Wars toys. Here are some pics to show you what we saw….
Fun Star Wars thermoses, cupcakes (but they got eaten!), Darth Vader pinatas, and the Topps trading discs welcomed us as we waited in line for the “unveiling.”
L:ego lovers are in for a treat. There were tons of new Star Wars Lego building sets. The hard part is, which ones do you choose? Lego sets at Walmart sell from as low as $11.19 all the way up to $100+. There are many to choose from!
Clearly, I’m not the only “cool” and “bad” mom in town. These kids are having a field day!
One of the most unique and highly anticipated toys from the new Star Wars line is this one, the new Star Wars Legendary Jedi Master Yoda. He brings his wisdom used to trained Luke and others for over 800 years, to your home. He speaks over 115 phrases to get you into top Lightsaber mastery shape. His dynamic motorized body movement and full voice recognition will surely impress you.
Star Wars Legendary Jedi Master Yoda is 179.97 through Walmart.com with free shipping. This is sure to be a sought-after toy by both kids…and adults!
Walmart had several rows dedicated to the new Star Wars toys and they have even more stocked at Walmart.com.
If you missed last night’s midnight shindig, no worries. Walmart is constantly restocking their Star Wars shelves and will be having another event on Saturday, Sept. 5th, beginning at 10am. Go on Saturday for another chance to get a free Topps limited edition Star Wars Galactic Connexxions trading disc game packet.
Don’t forget to also check out Walmart.com for a unpresedented selection of galactic new Star Wars toys, clothing, groceries, and more!
Enjoy and May the Force Be With You!
