Do you wish you had more space on your iPhone? Do you find yourself needing to transfer files to your PC in order to have enough space for a new app or to take more pictures? This is such a chore and who remembers how to do transfer things anyways?
Sandisk has come out with their iXpand Flash Drive to making transferring pictures and videos between your iPhone, iPad, Mac and or PC easier. Connect the SanDisk iXpand to your iPhone or iPad for an instant 64 GB of space to work off of. No cloud, cables, or Internet connection is needed.
SanDisk iXpand Flash Drive
The iXpand Flash Drive makes it easy to automatically transfer files, photos, and videos from your iPhone or iPad to give you more space. If you are like most people, you probably have thousands of valuable photos on your phone. You reason that you like to have them there so you can refer to them, but do you really go back a year back or so to look up pictures from that time? Usually, people refer to the past 1-2 months only.
Automatic Back-Up
Moving pictures off your phone frees up more space to take more pictures. At the very least, using the Sandisk iXpand Flash Drive can help you to back up your photos, so if your iPhone ever died or disappeared, you’d still have the pictures. In fact, the iXpand app can automatically sync photos and videos from your camera roll whenever you connect the flash drive, so you needn’t worry about backing up your files yourself.
Songs & Movies Galore
Wish you could take your thousands of songs and movies and TED Talks with you on the go? Now you can by transferring these files from your Mac or PC to the iXpand Flash Drive. You can play popular video formats like WMV, AVI, MKV, MP4, and MOV right from the iXpand Flash Drive, without worry of transferring to your iPad or iPhone.
Just grab your iXpand Flash Drive when you’re heading out to a party, road trip, sleepover, or day at the beach. You’ll have all your favorite tunes, movies, and pictures with you. The iXpand is available in 16 GB, 32 GB, 64 GB, and 126 GB sizes yet is small enough to fit in your pocket.
Status Updates
I like how the iXpand Flash Drive app gives you a status of how much storage space you have left on both the iXpand Flash Drive and your Apple device. The iXpand does include an internal battery, so you do need to keep it charged in order to use it. You can see there is a battery life remaining indicator for the Flash Drive as well.
Pros:
- What a great invention – love being able to expand memory to the iPhone/iPad
- A great tool for backing up all the family’s Apple products – you can do this in the manual mode
- Now you can enjoy your WHOLE music collection using the iXpand on your iPhone without taking up space on your iPhone
- Great for sharing photos with friends – an easy way to transfer videos, photos, and more
- Download movies, podcasts, and more onto your iXpand Flash Drive and watch straight from there when connected to your iPhone/iPad
Cons:
- You aren’t able to access iBooks for Kindle but you can read .pdf books
- Due to the width of the iXpand Flash Drive, it obstructs other USB ports if located close together on your PC/Mac
- The lid to protect the USB stick comes completely off and is sure to get lost. Would prefer for it to be attached
The iXpand Flash Drive is compatible with Windows XP, Windows 7 & 8, Mac )S 10.5+, iPhone 5 and newer, iPad Air, iPad 4th generation, iPad Mini with Retina display, and iPad mini + iOS 7.1 or higher.
The 32 GB iXpand Flash Drive sells for $74.95+ free shipping on Amazon. All sizes from 16 GB to 128 GB are available on Amazon.
A Mom’s Perspective
I have recently discovered the simplicity and flexibility of Apple’s Air Play. I can connect my iPhone and iPad to my TV (by using Apple TV) to view my photos on my TV. It’s great for sharing pictures and the fastest way I know to get pictures on my TV. The iXpand Flash Drive is great for sharing recent photos or photos from seasons ago.
For example, I love to show picture slides shows. With the iXpand app, I plan on copying a bunch of photos from past Christmases to my iXpand to share on my TV. When I’m done, I can just delete them off the drive. But having the ability to transfer a lot of heavy photos to my iPhone without bogging down my iPhone’s hard drive space is a dream.
