Just Dance, Dance, Dance

By Jamie Wiersma

Shortly before Thanksgiving our family received Just Dance 3 for Wii* and a month later it is still one of the family’s favorite games to play.  The game is simple enough for my five year old to maneuver through and choose songs (you can hear a snippet of the song as you scroll through the choices), making it something that he can play without adult help if he wants.  There is a great variety of songs to choose from – current songs that my kids hear on television like “Dynamite” and “Price Tag”, songs from my “good ole days” like “Gonna Make You Sweat (Everybody Dance Now)” as well as songs that my parents know like “I’m So Excited.” All ages can get into the game and enjoy it!

Thanksgiving Day we sent the kids into a different room to wear off some energy. We took several games along for them to choose from but Just Dance 3 was their  game of choice for the day.  Two hours later, they were still enjoying themselves and the dads got to enjoy football without any interruptions!

Up to four players can play at one time. (Although, if you have a big group, those that don’t have controllers still might get in the mood and choose to dance!) Select a song and then imitate the dancers on the screen. You earn stars and points as you get the moves right. The person with the highest score wins that round. As you earn stars you are rewarded with a special choreography or game mode. There are even songs that have 2 and 4-part choreographies where you interact with the other dancers in your group with each member getting the opportunity to take the spotlight.

Need a little cardio exercise?  Choose the “Just Sweat” mode.  There are lots of different modes that you can choose from in this area. One of our favorites was an option that played shortened versions of each song. Since there was no down time between the songs, you really worked up a sweat. Half an hour later, I was ready for a break!

Ready for some new songs? You can purchase and download more songs through the Wii store for 250 points each.
Overall, I would highly recommend this game to anyone.  It’s perfect for any age group and a great way to get moving.

Just Dance 3 is available for the Wii, PlayStation 3, and XBOX 360.  Just Dance 3 is available through Amazon.com for all platforms for $29.96 with free One-Day Shipping.
