Laser Hair Removal in Your Home?

this is only a test

While at BlogHer ’12 last month, one of my favorite products I found on the expo floor was the Tria  Hair Removal Laser…for the home!  I couldn’t believe it that you can now conduct laser hair removal in the comfort of your own home!  No extensive doctor visits, no expensive procedures, and no more inconveniences of scheduling time to attend a series of laser removal appointments.

The Tria uses the exact same diode laser found in professional lasers, it’s the real deal.  The Tria Hair Removal Laser permanently removes your hair after a series of treatments.  Just after two treatments, you will already see results, but for best results they recommend a six month treatment period.  And guess what?  It’s cordless!  I love it!

Tria, The Company

The Tria company started in 2003 by the people who invented LightSheer, which is the ultimate hair removal standard for in-clinic hair removal.  Their goal was to find a way to make LightSheer, which at the time was contained in a machine that weighed 120 lbs. and cost $100k, into a portable handheld laser, easy and safe enough to deliver the same results at home.  After many trials, Tria Beauty got approval from the FDA to begin selling the Tria Hair Removal Laser in the USA. In 2011, Tria launched their 3.0 version of the Tria Hair Removal Laser, which incorporates the latest technology, quicker treatment times, and stellar precision.

Going Hairless

I’m excited to report that Tria Beauty chose me to take part in their Blogger Review Program, which takes place over the next 6 months.  I will be using the Tria on my legs and under arms and sharing the results with you every month so you can see the progress along with me (although I probably won’t post pics of my underarms, who wants to see that???)  Tria recommends that you use the Tria laser twice a month for six months to achieve the best results.  Before each session, I will be shaving and then begin the treatment.  According to their website, it should take about 20 minutes each session to complete my legs.  The laser will target the root of each hair follicle and disable it from growing hair again in the future.

Paragraph 3

The instructions said that I should notice considerably less hair even after 2 treatments.  I’m so excited to get started, just think, within six months I’ll never have to shave my legs or underarms again.  It’s hard to fathom!

I’ve never priced out laser hair treatment below, but from the limited pricing I’ve seen online, it costs thousands of dollars.  According to the Tria website, you can see what the average cost is per area of hair removal.  Ouch!

Speaking of ouch, you may be wondering, like I am, if there is any pain in the laser hair removal process.   It differs for each person, but the instruction manual likened the process to a rubber band being snapped onto your skin.  Now we both know, it all depends how close that rubber band is to you and how far it’s stretched to know how much it will hurt.  So, that being said, I will let you know.  I will be starting the process in a week and will write about my first experience in 2-3 weeks.

As you can see from the chart to the right, the cost of the Tria is $395, plus free shipping.  Now I know what you’re thinking, hey, that’s expensive.  Well, if hair removal is important to you, it’s much cheaper than having it done professionally.  Come on this journey with me and I’ll share what I learn and what I see along the way.  And guess what?  At the end of my journaling of my “hair loss,” I will be giving away a Tria Hair Removal Laser and YOU could be the winner!  So keep posted!  Oh, and by the way, don’t worry, I’ll be giving away a brand new one, not the one I’ve been using…you get a fresh one!

So tell me, leave a comment and tell me about the things you hate the most about shaving, waxing, or unsightly, unwanted hair growth?

* Tria sent me a Hair Removal Laser as a part of their Blogger Review program.  I’m thrilled to be a part of this program but will write my articles based on my personal experiences and honest opinion of the product.

Wow, I'm really curious about this. I have a horrible tendency to cut myself when shaving. You'd think I'd be better at it after decades of practice! I also have very dark hair, so stubble is noticeable even on the first day. I'd love a new option.

Having dark hair makes you a good candidate for Tria Hair Removal Laser, too. Yes, I'm really excited about it. I'm going to try it next weekend, though I already tried a spot test, and found that it wasn't painful. I will definitely keep you posted! Thanks for sharing.

  2. Will it work on facial hair? One of the meds I'm taking causes that. Oy.

love! I can't wait to see the transformation. I would gladly shell out $400 for a contraption like this. I would love to have the convenience of not having to shave again!

  4. Sold. I have decided to go hairless and this sounds so much kinder on my bank account. Thank you for sharing!

  5. Not having to shave my legs would be a dream. Sounds a bit expensive but if it really works it would be worth it. Looking forward to hearing how you like it!

  6. For me I hate those little red bumps! This could be really cool to have

  7. Ok…I've already tried mine….I am anxious to see what results we can both get. : ) So no photos eh? : ) Oh…it stings a bit but it's not too bad…although I haven't tried it above the number 2 setting…

Just tried the Tria Hair Removal laser last night. Adjusting the settings can take the sting out of it. I noticed heat at times on my skin, but it was not red. Can't wait to see the results. We'll find out together!

i really like the idea of doing hair removal at home, i am a teacher and a mother so dont get much time for going anywhere for such a short treatment. I have heard that its treatment is very safe and comfortable so i am looking forward to buy this equipment.

  9. This is a good way to remove unwanted hair. But skin is so sensitive and one cannot take the risk.
Laser technique is good but prefer to go to reputable health center.
