Spring is just around the corner, according to the groundhog, Punxsutawney Phil. That means Spring Break road trips!
Whether you have a 4th grader setting out to see the great National Parks, a highschool junior or senior looking forward to touring college campuses, or just a desire to roam our US highways, roadtripping is always a fun family trip.
No road trip is complete without roadtripping tech! We’ve got you covered. See our top pics for gadgets to bring along to enhance your trip.
RoadTripping Tech Not to Miss
RoadTrippers App
Don’t go on a road trip without the RoadTrippers app. This free app (with a premium option available) is one of the most fun ways to road travel.
Search for things to do, points of interest, amusement & nightlife, outdoor activities, hotels, and more along your route.
You’ll find things you never knew existed. My daughter and I drove to Phoenix from LA last year and along the way we found an old gunslinger town that has been used in countless westerns over the past 60 years.
We had a lot of fun exploring the town and visiting gift shops.
On our last family road trip in December, we visited the Salt Lake City Planetarium on our way back from Park City, Utah. We had a blast. We would never have thought of going to a planetarium had it not popped up in RoadTrippers and we had to go.
You can save trips and activities for each trip in the app. RoadTrippers maps it out for you so you can keep track of when and where to pull off the road.
Another favorite thing about RoadTrippers, you don’t have to plan ahead of time. You can map out your itinerary on the road. It’s such a useful app.
The RoadTrippers app is available for free on the Apple App Store or Google Play.
Chipolo
Chipolo One is a plastic disc, available in several colors, that helps you find what’s important to you, like your keys, wallet, your son’s favorite stuffed rabbit, your daughter’s EpiPen or a favorite water bottle.
All the things you do NOT want to lose, especially on a road trip. Available in different colors, each family member can have their own color to put on their things.
Connect your Chipolo One’s to your cellphone app to keep tabs on them. If something becomes out of sight, you can ring the item (with up to 120 dB from the Chipolo One device) using the app.
Or, if your phone goes missing, simply double clip your Chipolo to ring your phone.
The Chipolo app will keep track where it was last “seen,” ie, in Bluetooth connection with your phone. The Chipolo app will also send you notifications if you left one of your Chipolo One items behind.
Even better, there are no monthly fees and the tracker uses a standard CR2032 coin battery.
Simply replacement went the battery goes dead, though the battery should last up to 2 years.
Chipolo also makes a Chipolo Wallet card to keep in your wallet. The last thing you need is to lose your wallet on a road trip.
Chipolo discs are definitely an important addition to your roadtripping tech pack list!
The Chipolo One is available in a 1-pack for $25, a 4-pack, on sale now at Chipolo for $75 and their Chipolo Wallet is also on sale for $53, both include free shipping.
