I’m so excited that the 2012 Olympics are already upon us!  The Olympics start this Friday on July 27th.  Mark your calendars for the Opening Ceremony in London, entitled “The Isles of  Wonder,” beginning 7:30pm ET on NBC.  For a schedule of NBC news coverage see  their NBC Olympics website.

There’s an App for That!

Not able to get yourself in front of the TV?  I won’t, I’ll be traveling, so I looked into what mobile apps are available.  NBC is offering two free apps for Android and iOS:

NBC Olympics Live Extra app – “Get to ready to watch every moment of the 2012 London Olympic Summer Games LIVE for FREE with the NBC Olympics Live Extra app. In addition to watching all the live action, during the Olympics, enhance your viewing experience with alternate camera views, plus full replays on-the-go! You can follow your favorite events and sports, and receive push notifications for event start times. Download now on your Android handheld device to prepare for the start of the London Games, and take a look back at the best of the Beijing Olympics. Support for additional Android handheld and tablet devices will be coming soon.” (source: Google Play Store).  Available for Android and Apple iOS.

NBC Olympics App – “Experience the best of the 2012 London Olympic Summer Games with the FREE NBC Olympics Mobile and Tablet Application! Follow all the action with live updates on every event from London. Check out NBC Olympics news, results & schedules, TV & Online listings, medal counts, video, photos, and much more! Plus, you can follow your favorite athletes, teams and sports, and engage with other fans on various social media platforms including Facebook and Twitter — all from your phone or tablet.”  (source: NBCOlympics.com).  Available for Android and Apple iOS.

Who’s Watching?

Curious as to who’s watching which events at the Summer Games?  Here’s a breakdown by men vs. women.  No surprise women’s favorite sports to watch are gymnastics and swimming.  And women will be actively socialcasting more so than men through social media channels.  Techbargains.com sent me this infographic based on their research which I just had to share.  Enjoy and tweet me @wellconnectdmom your Olympic tweets!
