While with my fellow Walmart Moms in Bentonville, AR, home of Walmart headquarters in June, we were given a tour of the newly improved Electronics department in Walmart. It looked fantastic. It was easy to find things, there was a long row of TV’s all playing the same thing, you could actually touch and play with the tablets, and there fitness trackers, something I’ve never seen in my store.
Wow. What made the tour even better was when they said that all the Walmart stores across the country would be revamped by the end of July. Really? I couldn’t wait! If you haven’t been in your Electronics department of your Walmart lately, it’s time to take a look.
As you enter your new Electronics department you will notice a number of changes such as…
- More than 1,000 new items added
- New signage to help you find what you’re looking for faster
- A LOT of big screen TV’s so you can compare brands and quality easily. The boxes are stored below so you don’t have to wait for someone to get them from the backroom anymore
- New interactive displays for phones, tablets, video games, headphones, Bluetooth speakers, and laptops. Yes, you can actually touch them!
- Accessories are located right next to the phones, tablets, video games, etc. to make shopping easier
- You’ll find more of the hottest items from great brands like Apple, Samsung, Beats, GoPro, Xbox One, Fitbit, and more
Telling you about the newly improved Walmart Electronics department is one thing, but showing you is even better. Here are some pictures I snapped, both in Bentonville, AR (the main showcase) as well as pictures from my local store in Chino, CA.
I know what you’re thinking, it looks like an Apple store, doesn’t it? It’s in Walmart! Well, at least the one in Bentonville. My Walmart store isn’t in the best area, so we don’t have this openness, but it sure looks beautiful, doesn’t?
There are so many fitness trackers on the market these days, it’s hard to keep them all straight! I loved this display in the Bentonville store that tells you about the product, gives you symbols to easily see what it tracks, and best of all, lets you test out the device first!
In my local store, as well as in the Bentonville store, you could play with the various tablets from Samsung, Amazon, HP, Asus, Microsoft, Nabi, and more. My kids loved this and settled themselves in for a number of games while I took pictures.
You can try out the new Beats Studio headphones and Bluetooth speakers now too, no more just looking at a box. Depending upon their size, some Walmart stores have even more Bluetooth speakers to test out and listen too so you can try before you buy.
The video game area looks much cleaner than before. It’s now has more space in the store and with it’s clean signage, it’s easier to find just the video game you were looking for. This is such a huge improvement over what we had before in our local store. Some Walmart stores will offer shoppers the opportunity to play games to try out the game console as well.
This picture only shows about half of the TV screens displayed at my local Walmart. It’s never been easier to compare TV brands before and see the difference between a 60 Hz, 120 Hz, and 240 Hz refresh rate. And look, the boxes are below the TV’s.
This Samsung TV displays greets shoppers as they enter the Electronics department in my local Walmart. Smart TV’s these days have so many features…and accessories…it’s hard to keep up! This is a great display to help consumers understand the benefits of a smart TV as well as show a way to enhance the sound with Samsung’s SoundStand.
Walmart Electronics Department Remixed Video
Here’s a fast hip video we created to see more of what’s in store at your local Walmart Electronics department…
With so many technology choices on the market, it’s easy to get overwhelmed. Walmart did a really nice job in revamping their Electronics department. They made the shopping experience more visually appealing, interactive, and informative. Curious about how your store changed? Go take a tour!
Wal-Mart really does have some good deals when it comes to purchasing personal electronics. TV’s are cheaper, and most of the time Apple devices are much more affordable than at most retailers. I am planning on investigating a few different TV models this weekend so that I can compare and contrast their features and prices.
