Walmart Family Mobile – Your Tool for Planning Fun

Did you see the Angry Birds Movie? We missed it in the theaters so we decided to to host an Angry Birds Management party to keep our family and our good friends in check before school started. Summer blew by this year and our school district decided to start a week earlier than last year.  Our little birds are not happy about this.

To make it fun and better assess everyone’s state of mine, (including the parents!), we sent this invitation to our good family friends and asked them to come dress according to their attitudes.  This is what the invite looked like…

My son has always loved Angry Birds, so he collected up all of his Angry Bird animals and games to use for decoration.  We highlighted the colors of the Angry Birds colors in our theme so all could dress according to the color of Angry Bird best represents them.

Walmart Family Mobile

We had a lot of fun coming up with ideas of how our theme would play out with our food.  As a techie, my phone is always a big part of my planning.  I recently got the LG Stylo 2 Plus smartphone from Walmart Family Mobile.  It was only $199 (plus the cost of the Walmart Family Mobile Starter Kit for $19.88).  I was happy to see that Walmart Family Mobile recently lowered their price on the SIM Starter Kit from $25 to $19.88, so my timing was good!

And better yet, for $19.88, I was able to start my first month of Walmart Family Mobile without paying a dime more, as I won’t be billed for my monthly service until the end of the one month period.

The Walmart Family Mobile display is now on one of the aisles of the Walmart Electronics Center, along with other popular mobile plans.

It’s been awhile since we looked at the Walmart Family Mobile Plans. Walmart Family Mobile now offers Walmart Family Mobile Plus, which is a $49.88 unlimited talk, text, and data (up to 10 GB) on a 4G LTE network.  Most mobile plans have 3 GB or 5 GB data.  This is OK, but nowadays with Google Maps and Traffic, music and movie streaming, and video chat, you can go through this amount of data pretty quickly.

A plan with 10 GB of data should last you…or your teenager, the whole month.  And Walmart Family Mobile offers discounts for additional lines.  You can take off $5/mo for each additional line you add to your account.  With Walmart Family Mobile’s variety of plans you can have one of your family members on the Plus plan while others may only need the Unlimited Talk and Text for $24.88/mo.

As a movie fan, I love the fact that with the Walmart Family Mobile Plus plan, you also get a free monthly rental from VUDU.  VUDU is a great place to save your digitized movies to, buy, and rent movies from.  Watch great movies like Angry Birds, Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and more.

Better yet, you can watch your free VUDU monthly movie ($7 value) from any smart TV, Roku, Chrome browser, or even your Tivo – all of them have the VUDU app on them.  With Walmart Family Mobile, you can watch your free rental movie on any screen…the bigger, the better!

LG Stylo 2 Plus Phone

With its 5MP selfie camera, 13 MP back camera, 5.7 HD touchscreen, fingerprint scanner, and included stylus, I thought the LG Stylo smartphone was a steal at $199, compared to similar phones by other leading brands.  Oh and did I mention it has a built-in stylus?  I hate it when I’m caught without a pen.  With the stylus, I can jot down notes on the spot!

The LG Stylo 2 Plus has been a perfect companion and quickly writing down our thoughts for the party.  My son and I brainstormed some ideas in planning for our party.  We both had fun writing them down in LG’s quick notes app.  

The funny thing is, both my son and I don’t have the most beautiful writing. In fact, I always favor typing over writing whenever possible…because people rarely can read my writing!

But with the LG Stylo 2 Plus handwriting app, it automatically turns it into calligraphy type writing.  So even I was impressed with my own handwriting!  Here’s our how my list turned out.  I know, I know, my handwriting is still not the clearest, but let me tell you, it’s 50% better than usual!

My son preferred to use the stylus to type in his list…which is very readable, of course.  But he also used the stylus to design our Angry Red Pizza pepperoni slices.  Cool, huh?  We used his drawing as the model for our pepperoni pizza.

We had a lot of fun enhancing our food with the Angry Bird theme.  We bought some pepperoni pizzas from Walmart and decorated them with cut olives,carrots, and mozzarella cheese.  It was a bit of work to “angerize” each pepperoni, but it turned out great.

My daughter joined in the fun and made Piggy Rolls using store-bought dough, bought from Walmart, popcorn kernels for eyes, and she placed toothpicks in the pigs noses to create the nostrils during baking.  After baking, she colored the popcorn kernels with a black sharpie to make them stand out more.

We bought the huge 56oz. pack of our favorite candy from our Walmart shopping trip to make our Angry Bird cool down chill pills.  My son had fun separating the colors and creating the birds (and a pig) in our bowls.

We found the cute Angry Bird cutouts online using Google, searching for “Angry Bird cutouts.”  We included them in our decor to add to the fun.

We had a lot fun with our Angry Bird event.  There’s nothing like a theme party to make an event memorable.  Even after our Angry Bird management fun, none of us are still happy about going back to school, but the our colorful zany fun helped make our last weekend of Summer more enjoyable.
