WeCall – Making Conference Calls Clearer

WeCall Main

Philips came out with a new  speaker for your phone or laptop called the WeCall.  It links to your iPhone or Android phone via Bluetooth and to your laptop via USB. Does it play music?  Yes.  But that’s not its main purpose.

The Philips WeCall contains 4 separate microphones with echo cancellation (means the microphones won’t create feedback with each other) in its four corners to pick up voices from around the room, even up to 15 feet away!

It’s great for your home office.  Turn on the WeCall and you can put your phone down and relax as your talk to the person on the other line.

The WeCall works well for families too when calling the grandparents.  Finally, your parents will be able to hear all of your kids more clearly.  As a family, we like to call members of our family to wish them a happy birthday.  The WeCall works great in picking up all of our voices without having to crowd around our phone.

Philips WeCall Speaker and case

The WeCall comes with a traveling case to take your speakerphone on the road with you.  And the battery lasts up to 8 hours of use on a single charge and 200 minutes in standby.

Features:

  • Includes 4 separate microphone to pick up voices around a table
  • Can pick up voices up to 15 feet away from WeCall
  • No wires needed – can connect to your cellphone via Bluetooth
  • Comes with a travel case to protect your WeCall speaker
  • Fast and advanced echo suppression to minimize distraction
  • WeCall also comes with a USB cable for convenient charging

Pros:

  • The sound quality is really good – especially picking up voices across a room
  • WeCall is wireless, so you can put it anywhere in the room without worries of finding a plug
  • If you turn off WeCall, it keeps its charge pretty well
  • WeCall now works with Android phones too!

Cons:

  • You need to turn it off when not in use so it will be charged and ready the next time you want to use it
  • WeCall actually works better if you have it about 2 feet away from you

There’s an App for That!

Philips wants to make conference calls easier, so they created the WeCall app (iTunes, Google Play) where you can store your frequent conference call numbers.  In fact, the app can even take phone and access number s from a conference call on your calendar and store it for you.  This is especially helpful if you have on-going interval conference calls.

WeCall is available for $149.99 through Amazon with free shipping.

Family Technology at it's Best

A Mom’s Perspective

WeCall comes with a travel case because it really is ideal for travel.  You can sit in your hotel room on with your speaker phone and kick back on the bed and easily be heard by the person on the other line.  No more holding your phone to your ear or using a canny sounding phone speaker phone.

I have a monthly conference call with Walmart.  Each month I need to open up the phone number to ring it on my phone and enter the access number.  With the Philips WeCall app, all I need to do is click on the Walmart Moms contact and the number is dialed and access code is entered for me.  I can multitask while it does the work for me.

I also have phone calls 2-3 times a month with a client who uses a conference call frequently.  In the past I’d have to look up her contact info. and enter in the info., which always seemed to take too long  Now, I just go to my WeCall app and click her name.  The WeCall app takes the work out of ongoing conference calls.  You’re always prepared.

*  I was given a Philips WeCall in exchange for my honest opinion.  All opinions are my own.

Thanks for the article, I’ve never heard of this before but it’s interesting. I use GlobalMeet Audio (http://www.pgi.com/globalmeet-audio/) for conference calls and its been great. The mobile app makes it easy for me to stay connected when I’m on-the-go.
