It’s finally here! \u00a0The new PlayStation 4! \u00a0Woohoo! \u00a0PlayStation is known for for their graphics, innovation, and appeal to hard core gamers, but the many people aren’t aware of the great kid friendly PlayStation video games available. \u00a0And this does not change with the new PlayStation 4 that just hit the market last month.<\/p>\n

Just in time for Christmas, we pulled together some of the most fun kid friendly PlayStation 4 games aimed towards kids. \u00a0All of these games are rated E or E+10 by the ESRB Board. \u00a0If you’re not familiar with the ESRB Board, take notice. \u00a0The ESRB<\/a> rates all video games and even gives details as to why they rated a game they way they did. \u00a0With the plethora of games available out there, it’s hard to know if the game your child is dying for is appropriate fo them. \u00a0Just look for the ESRB rating on the game box to gauge for yourself. \u00a0And you can look online or in their free ESRB app to get more info. on the game.<\/p>\n

Who doesn’t love Angry Birds? \u00a0We reviewed Angry Birds Trilogy last month and loved blasting away those piggies on the big screen. \u00a0But Angry Birds Star Wars<\/a> ups the game with allowing more than one player at a time to play! \u00a0You can play competitively with up to 4 players or cooperatively with 2 players. \u00a0Love it! \u00a0You’ll fight off the horrifying Darth Vader, Dark Lord of the Pigs and his Pigtroppers in this fun intergalactic journey with over 200 levels of play, hidden items, and bonus content.<\/p>\n

Skylanders Swap Force Rated E 10+ for Kids 10 and Over<\/span><\/h2>\n

Skylanders Swap Force<\/a>\u00a0builds upon the widely successful Skylanders Spyro’s, Giants, and more adventures to bring unprecedented customization. \u00a0The new Swap Force characters have a magnetic binding to hold together the top half with the bottom half. \u00a0Put your character into the game by placing them on the portal. \u00a0To take advantage of particular powers associated with another character, just swap out the bottom or top half one one character with that of another creating unique gameplay experiences. \u00a0In this game, the SWAP Force found themselves blasted away from the volcano they protected, because of its ability to replenish Skyland’s magic. \u00a0The blast landed them on Earth and it gave them the ability to swap powers. \u00a0Help them to return to save Skylands.<\/p>\n

Knack Rated E 10+\"<\/span><\/h2>\n

Knack\u00a0<\/a>\u00a0An invading goblin army has threatened to wipe out mankind. \u00a0Their only hope is Knack, who stands just three feet tall. \u00a0Fortunately, with the help of mysterious ancient relics, Knack can transform into a monstrous wrecking machine. \u00a0Knack is a fun adventurous game that allows drop-in\/drop-out cooperative play at any point during the game. \u00a0A unique aspect of the game is the ability to unlock gadget parts and crystal relics in the Knack’s Quest mobile game app<\/a> and transfer them to your PS4 system to use in the game. \u00a0Knack takes full advantage of the superior graphics PS4 provides.<\/p>\n

Doki Doki Universe Rated E10+\"<\/span><\/h2>\n

Doki Doki Universe<\/a> was my favorite game from the E3 Video Games tradeshow earlier in the year. \u00a0We listed it, Knack, and the Legos Super Heroes as some of our favorites for the year in our article, The Best Upcoming Family Games from E3 2013.<\/a>\u00a0 \u00a0Doki Doki in Japanese means, \u201cto make your heart beat fast,\u201d as if in love or within a highly emotional state. \u00a0It\u2019s very fitting for the game. \u00a0Doki Doki Universe is about a robot who gets dropped off in the outer universe by its family and was told they would return to pick him up. \u00a0Twenty-six years later, he is still waiting. \u00a0He meets a representative from the robot factory where he was made\u00a0who tells him that his model is about to be discontinued due to its lack of humanity. \u00a0The representative evaluates the robot\u2019s responses as he encounters various characters and situations along his way. \u00a0When encountering different situations, you have three choices as to how you want the robot to interact. \u00a0Based on those choices, the game begins creating a profile on you that can tell you more about your personality, calculated on standards like Myers-Briggs,\u00a0Enneagram, and a Japanese\u00a0Kokology system which evaluates people based on decisions made in hypothetical situations. \u00a0It\u2019s really a fun and informative game for children and adults.<\/p>\n

Lego Marvel Super Heroes E 10+\"<\/span><\/h2>\n

 <\/p>\n

Lego Marvel Super Heroes<\/a>\u00a0is an entertainment haven for those who love the Marvel characters. \u00a0Marvel Super Heroes gives you the power to choose which superhero can best help you with the task at hand, whether it\u2019s moving large objects out-of-the-way, getting to high out-of-the-way places, or fighting Sandman, Loki, and Magneto. \u00a0Similar to utilizing different weapons within your arsenal, you switch superheroes dependent upon your need. \u00a0Superheroes Hulk, Iron Man, Wolverine, Captain America, Thor and many others are at your disposal, in fact, there are over 100 Marvel characters in the game! \u00a0 Players chase down Cosmic Bricks as they venture around New York and places around the Marvel Universe, such as Start Tower, Asteroid M, and the X-Mansion.<\/p>\n

Sound Shapes Rated E\"<\/span><\/h2>\n

We wrote about\u00a0SoundShapes\u00a0<\/a>back in 2012, citing it as a must have game for the PS Vita and PS3<\/a>. \u00a0It’s a simplistic looking game with a rolling ball you guide along sometimes treacherous landscapes to pick up sound wave circles, which enliven the game with various music and beats.\u00a0s you roll along, you can jump up and over objects, stick onto walls and defy gravity, and speed roll which gives you momentum to jump farther and faster. \u00a0Once you roll from one side of the screen to the other successfully, you go to the next screen. \u00a0I’m delighted to learn that PlayStation has not only made necessary changes so SoundShapes can play on the PlayStation 4, but they have also added two new sound packs including \u00a01.\u00a0electro funk synthetic voices of the Vocoder Sound Pack, and 2. the flute loops and jazz bass of the Old School Sound Pack.<\/p>\n

Better yet, PlayStation has decided to offer the PS4 version for free if you have already purchased SoundShapes for your PS Vita or PS3. \u00a0In fact, even if you only have the PS Vita version, you can now play the SoundShapes for free on your PS3 now too. \u00a0I’m looking forward to playing SoundShapes on the big screen in addition to my PS Vita version. \u00a0It’s a great game.<\/p>\n

Tiny Brains – Rated E 10+ for Kids 10 and Over<\/span><\/h2>\n

Tiny Brains<\/a>\u00a0is a cooperative puzzle in which four super-powered lab animals must combine their unique physics-based powers to escape a trick-ridden maze stemming from a mad scientist’s experiments. \u00a0Puzzles can be solved a multitude of ways dependent upon how groups combine their powers together. \u00a0The game is designed to appeal to both hardcore gamers and casual gamers and utilizes simple controls so players of any level can jump right in.<\/p>\n

Octodad: \u00a0Dadliest Catch Rated E+10<\/span><\/h2>\n

Octodad: \u00a0Dadliest Catch<\/a> is not available yet, it will most likely be available in February of 2014. \u00a0Octodad plays out the story line of an Octodad who masquerades as a human as he goes about his life. \u00a0He must skillfully maneuver mundane tasks with his unwieldy boneless tentacles while keeping his true nature a secret from his human family. \u00a0Manipulate Octodad’s body like a puppet to help him maintain his masquerade to help him stay in the esteemed human world while avoiding the possibility of going back to his roots. \u00a0It’s unusual, silly, fun game with fun surprises to manage throughout the game.<\/div>\n

Just Dance Rated E 10+\"<\/span><\/h2>\n

The widely popular Just Dance series has now debuted their latest version, Just Dance 2014<\/a>. \u00a0Just Dance is the #1 best-selling dance game in the world. \u00a0Dance 2014 includes over 40 of the hottest songs including current pop hits and legendary classics. \u00a0 Songs include Katy Perry’s ‘Roar,’ Robin Thicke’s ‘Blurred Lines,’ One Direction’s ‘One Way or Another,’ Lady Gaga ‘Applause,’ Gloria Gaynor’s ‘I Will Survive,’ The Village People’s ‘YMCA,’ and much more. \u00a0Just Dance even includes a “Just Sweat Mode,” which allows you to personalize workouts by creating customized playlists and tracking calories. \u00a0Cool.<\/p>\n

Disney INFINITY E 10+<\/span><\/h2>\n

INFINITY is Disney\u2019s huge entry into the toy\/video game crossover arena. \u00a0 Not a company to do things small, Disney has entered into Skylanders\u2019 competitive territory with 25 fun and well-loved Disney collectible characters that can be transformed from a child\u2019s physical world to the animated Disney INFINITY world by placing their favorite character on a portal. \u00a0Placing a Monsters Inc. character boots up the Monsters Inc. game while placing a Davy Jones character on the portal boots up the Pirates of the Caribbean game. \u00a0Characters cannot go into worlds that aren\u2019t theirs, which is a strict rule Disney adheres to, unless you play in the Toy Box mode. \u00a0The Toy Box mode lets you create your own came with all the characters, buildings, weapons, landscapes, and more that you\u2019d like. \u00a0You can even build your own Disneyland! \u00a0There are no rules here.<\/p>\n

Disney INFINITY promises to be THE game of Christmas this year and will be available on all most gaming consoles, along with various add-on playsets which allow you to explore even more worlds with other favorite Disney characters. \u00a0Even the upcoming Lone Ranger movie will be represented. \u00a0Learn more at Disney\u2019s\u00a0INFINITY\u00a0<\/a>\u00a0site.<\/p>\n

It’s going to be a fun year enjoying the new HD graphics and feature enhancements on the new PlayStation 4 and now with a multitude of kid friendly PlayStation 4 video games, you don’t have to wait until your child becomes a teenage to take advantage of the PlayStation 4 graphics. \u00a0We enjoy playing PlayStation games and are excited about all of the new titles available to play.<\/p>\n
