it was a good time to bring out the BACtrack and let everyone test themselves. They all thought it was a fun activity and everyone, who was awake, joined in. The husband of the wife who was sleeping came in at .19, more than twice the illegal driving limit. The other couple came in at .05 for the husband and .12 for the wife.

What was interesting was the wife told us she felt OK and was surprised by her result. In fact, when she and her husband are out and about, she usually drives home because she feels like she’s in good shape. Yikes! I’m hoping she’ll think twice next time.

My husband and I came in well below the legal limit of .08. Based on these numbers, we waited longer until the husband with the .05 that night. I can definitely see the benefit of keeping the BACtrack in my home to double check guests that may have had too much to drink. Although this is the first time that’s happened, I feel it’s our responsibility to ensure our guests are safe to try.

Yes, you could say this method is invasive, but what I found was that the BACtrack is such a novelty, that everyone wanted to try it out. And after they did, I read the educational message about what condition of impairment they are likely to have. Fortunately, our friends were very receptive and had no problems not driving home.

BACtrack Vio

<a alcohol level BEFORE you leave a party or someone’s house. To make it easier, BACtrack created Vio, a smaller keychain smartphone breathalyzer that you can keep with you…or with your teenager. What’s interesting about the BACtrack Vio is that it uses a triple A battery, so the battery is less likely to run out when you absolutely need it. With the larger BACtrack, you can’t use it unless you charged it first.

My children are a little young yet, but once they get close to the driving age, I would have them place the Vio on their
