Since its inception in 1997, Netflix has dramatically changed the way we rent movies and watch them. \u00a0Remember all of the video stores that used to be on every corner? \u00a0Sometimes you were lucky enough to find a $1 video rental store, but getting the most popular movies was always hard. \u00a0I remember renting several movies for $1, what a bargain! \u00a0Until…we forgot to return the movies and had to pay all those late fees! \u00a0Eww, how I hated those late fees, they took the fun out of renting.<\/p>\n

But Netflix changed all that. \u00a0With their concept of “no more late fees,” people quickly flocked to their style of renting movies. \u00a0Years later, Netflix would offer movie streaming and revolutionize the way people rented movies once again. \u00a0Have you seen a video store lately? \u00a0Blockbuster? \u00a0My kids don’t know what Blockbuster is.<\/p>\n

Netflix has 44 million members throughout the United States and Canada, and is the world’s largest Internet subscription service. \u00a0I remember taking a college course when I was getting my masters in technology communication. \u00a0Our professor showed us all the methods Video On Demand had been tried over the years…and this was back in the late 90’s mind you…he concluded that he didn’t think Video on Demand (VOD) would ever \u00a0take off due to the insurmountable technological difficulties and costs in data storage and getting huge movie data files to move through the Internet channels to people’s house in an efficient manner.<\/p>\n

Netflix made it happen with 44 million members throughout the US and Canada using Netflix streaming to watch their favorite movies and shows…and unlimited streaming at $7.99 a month!<\/p>\n
