I still remember how I felt the day I had to say goodbye.<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div>Verizon&#8217;s DVR was decent, but it was no Tivo. \u00a0Truthfully, I lost my enthusiasm for TV like I once had.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div>All these years later, Tivo and I are back together. \u00a0Yes, I still have Verizon FIOS, but apparently the two play well together now. \u00a0WellConnectedMom is now a Tivo ambassador, so I get to tell you the original reasons why I loved Tivo&#8230;as well as many new more features our family loves.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div>In this first article, I would like to give you an overview of what makes Tivo &#8230;.Tivo. \u00a0In future articles, I&#8217;ll go into more depth.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #800080;\">Tivo\u00a0Roamio Types<\/span><\/h2>\n<div>The latest Tivo available is called the Tivo Roamio and it comes in three different products:<\/div>\n<div><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-13236\" alt=\"Tivo DVR Options\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wellconnectedmom.com\/blog\/p-content\/themes\/atahualpa342\/images\/articles\/2014\/05\/Tivo-DVR-Options.jpg?resize=679%2C305&#038;ssl=1\" width=\"679\" height=\"305\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wellconnectedmom.com\/blog\/p-content\/themes\/atahualpa342\/images\/articles\/2014\/05\/Tivo-DVR-Options.jpg?w=784&amp;ssl=1 784w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wellconnectedmom.com\/blog\/p-content\/themes\/atahualpa342\/images\/articles\/2014\/05\/Tivo-DVR-Options.jpg?resize=300%2C134&amp;ssl=1 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 679px) 100vw, 679px\" \/><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div>The one we are trying out is the middle one, the Tivo\u00a0Roamio Plus. \u00a0The Tivo\u00a0Roamio Plus has many features including:<\/div>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>150 hours of recorded video (Standard Definition)<\/li>\n<li>6 TV tuners (watch one channel and record up to 6 shows at one time!)<\/li>\n<li>Remote watching &#8211; you can be traveling and connect to your Tivo at home to watch your recorded shows<\/li>\n<li>Incredible Search function &#8211; you can search for shows and movies from your TV provider, Netflix, or Amazon Prime<\/li>\n<li>Review Movie Collections &#8211; movies, and can even access your home movies and photos!<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #800080;\">Installation<\/span><\/h2>\n<div>Of course, I couldn&#8217;t not write about the\u00a0Tivo\u00a0Roamio without telling you about the installation process with Verizon FIOS, since this is where I had to end using Tivo so many years ago.<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div>I was excited about being able to watch\/record 6 shows at once, but what puzzled me was the Verizon&#8217;s Cable Card only supports a dual tuner. \u00a0I called Verizon to find out if the\u00a0Tivo\u00a0Roamio would be able to record 6 shows, they said no. \u00a0I was so bummed. \u00a0Granted, it&#8217;s great still to have 2 channels with Tivo Roamio, but 6 would be better!<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div>Now, to use the\u00a0Tivo Roamio, you need a TV Cable Card that you can get from your TV provider. \u00a0If you have a DVR already from your TV provider, it should have a TV Cable Card in it. \u00a0All you need to do is remove it from your cable provider&#8217;s DVR and put it into your Tivo Roamio.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div>In my case, my husband wasn&#8217;t ready yet to give up his DVR with all of his recordings on it, so I called Verizon and ordered a cable card to put in our new Tivo Roamio Plus. \u00a0Verizon didn&#8217;t charge me for the Cable Card itself, but I did have to pay $20 for the shipping of the card (rip off on shipping, huh?). \u00a0We also pay an additional $4.99\/mo for the extra Cable Card.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #800080;\">2 Channels or 6 Channels Recording?<\/span><\/h2>\n<div>I installed the Verizon FIOS Cable card and went through the easy Tivo\u00a0Roamio setup process. \u00a0After Tivo was all set up, I checked to see how many channels I could record at once. \u00a0Tivo told me I would be able to record 6 whereas Verizon said I would only be able to record 2 shows.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div>I was so excited to find out that I could indeed record 6 channels at once! \u00a0Wow! \u00a0I&#8217;m not even sure how that&#8217;s possible, but it works! \u00a0I will never have a conflict between shows again, that&#8217;s huge!<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-1589\" alt=\"Family Technology at it's Best\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wellconnectedmom.com\/blog\/p-content\/themes\/atahualpa342\/images\/articles\/2010\/12\/WellConnectedMom-LOGO-MOM.jpg?resize=176%2C319&#038;ssl=1\" width=\"176\" height=\"319\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wellconnectedmom.com\/blog\/p-content\/themes\/atahualpa342\/images\/articles\/2010\/12\/WellConnectedMom-LOGO-MOM.jpg?w=400&amp;ssl=1 400w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wellconnectedmom.com\/blog\/p-content\/themes\/atahualpa342\/images\/articles\/2010\/12\/WellConnectedMom-LOGO-MOM.jpg?resize=165%2C300&amp;ssl=1 165w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 176px) 100vw, 176px\" \/><\/div>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #800080;\">A Mom&#8217;s Perspective<\/span><\/h2>\n<div>I could not be more thrilled with the new Tivo Roamio Plus. \u00a0I love that I can record whatever show I want and it doesn&#8217;t interfere with my kids&#8217; or my husband&#8217;s favorite shows. \u00a0In the past, this created an issue because of a &#8220;season pass,&#8221; or the automatic recording of our favorite shows every time a new one was one. \u00a0We often had conflicts of several season pass shows recording at the same time.<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>There were times when we&#8217;d have to make a choice which show got recorded. \u00a0Now we all can see our shows. \u00a0Are you a Tivo fan?<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>* \u00a0I was given a Tivo Roamio Plus with service as a part of the Tivo Moms team. \u00a0All opinions are my own.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>After all these years, we have Tivo Roamio once again in our household.
