As a mom of 3 boys who love to play on our family\u2019s iPad, a main worry for me is to make sure that it is protected from the bumps and drops of those active boys. We typically have a pretty heavy duty case around it but when I need the iPad\u00a0outside of its case for work purposes or to use the wireless keyboard that we have, it is somewhat of a pain to take in and out. <\/span><\/p>\n

In addition, I always worry that the more times we take the case apart, the less durable it will be. When I was introduced to the Holy Grail screen protector by Sir Lancelot Armor<\/a>, I was intrigued because of what it boasted. Could this work as an alternative to our heavy duty case?<\/span><\/p>\n

Sir Lancelot\u2019s Armor iPad case from the Holy Grail Series is made with tempered glass. It is designed to withstand the elements. The tempered glass is nearly impossible to scratch and is also impact resistant. Made from bullet proof glass, with bubble-free, reusable installation and a lifetime warranty, it was definitely something to check out.<\/span><\/p>\n

When it comes to screen protectors, I believe that they need to stand the test of time in order to really evaluate whether or not it is a good product. Our family has been using the Holy Grail screen protector for 2 months now and I can say that it is a great product.<\/span><\/p>\n

Installation<\/span><\/h2>\n

The installation is super easy. The box comes with easy instructions as well as a link to their website if you want to watch it on video. You basically clean the surface of your iPad, remove the rear film from the screen protector, line up the edges and apply pressure. I had absolutely no issues with bubbles while installing.<\/span><\/p>\n

While it is easy to install, it takes a little bit of work to get the screen protector off if you don\u2019t want to use it for a time. Holy Grail utilizes a silicon based reusable, high strength adhesive. You need a skinny sharp object to get underneath the protector. <\/span><\/p>\n

In addition, because it is a sticky adhesion, you would have to store it somewhere that you can cover up the stickiness to keep it from getting dirty along the sticky areas when not in use. I would not necessarily recommend using this screen protector if you plan to take it on and off.<\/span><\/p>\n

Performance<\/span><\/h2>\n

The screen on the iPad was just as responsive as when there is not a screen protector. In fact, if you didn’t know that there was a screen protector on the iPad, you might think that there was no protector on because the tempered glass finish has the look of the actual iPad screen.<\/span><\/p>\n

What about scratches? So far, we have none! I had my boys use a race car app that totally damaged a different screen protector that we had to see what it would do. You \u201cdrive\u201d the car around the screen when playing the game. The game and car\u00a0was immediately banned because of the scratches the wheel caused on the other protector. On the Holy Grail, we had no issues.<\/span><\/p>\n

I also took a fork to the screen, both scraping it across the screen as well as banging the tongs against the glass. Again, no scratches! I didn’t quite dare to just drop my iPad on the hard floor to see what would happen but they claim that the screen will not be damaged if dropped. Furthermore, I found no scratches from the everyday wear and tear of the last 2 months.<\/span><\/p>\n

The fact that it is tempered glass means the screen cleans up from fingerprints as if there were no protector on the iPad. The microfiber cleaning cloth does a nice job shining it up after little fingers have gotten it dirty. But, because it is scratch resistant, I also had no hesitation taking a napkin to the screen to do a quick clean if needed.<\/span><\/p>\n

I did find that the tempered glass is a bit thicker than most screen protectors. If you plan to use the Holy Grail along with a fitted case, this can be a problem. Something that has a bit of give like silicon should be fine but if the case is a hard plastic case, you may have a hard time popping it into the case. (This was the case with our heavy duty case that fits around the iPad with a hard plastic lining and a silicon case on top of that.)<\/span><\/p>\n
