These days it’s hard to go anywhere without phones for you and tablets for your kids. \u00a0Today’s technology has helped children be more patient on the drive to Gramma’s house or to the cross-country trip to your sister’s. \u00a0The age-old question, “are we there yet,” is not asked as much as it used to, as kids are occupied.<\/p>\n

Whether you have a trip planned via car or airplane, stocking up on some good kids apps for travel\u00a0before you go will help make the trip smoother…and your child may even learn a thing or too. \u00a0When my children were younger, tablets weren’t as prevalent. \u00a0I remember \u00a0going to the dollar store before each trip and stocking up on toys to surprise my kids before we needed to fly somewhere. \u00a0It helped pass the time and we had fun playing checkers (on a mini board), enjoying “tea” from our mini tea set, and playing Old Maid.<\/p>\n

But now, you can play all sorts of games straight from your tablet or phone and you don’t need to go to a store ahead of time to prepare. \u00a0Your kids will have \u00a0their favorite apps that they will want to play, but getting adding some new kids apps for travel onto their tablets will make your trip an even funner adventure.<\/p>\n

Kids Apps for Travel, How to Choose?<\/span><\/h2>\n

With the millions of apps on the market, choosing an app that is entertaining, fun, educational, and is trustworthy is no small task. \u00a0Left to his or her devices, your child will always choose the apps their friends are talking about….Minecraft, Angry Birds, Where’s My Water?, Candy Crush, etc. \u00a0With a little ahead-of-time research, you can add apps that educate as well as entertain your kids. \u00a0All kids love new apps to explore.<\/p>\n

We have three tips for you to help you find the perfect kid apps for your travels…<\/p>\n

1.) \u00a0Find Fun Edutainment Apps<\/strong><\/p>\n

We have written about Moms with Apps<\/a> before, it’s a great website that helps you slice through available apps according to your child’s interests (science, math, reading, critical thinking, social, etc.). \u00a0But it also helps you to choose apps where you know ahead of purchase what information the app collects, if there is in-app purchases, and social media integration.<\/p>\n

Use Mom’s with Apps fantastic Search function to help you find just the right kids apps for travel according to your child’s interests, age, device, and your privacy requirements.<\/p>\n

Use the Search section on the left to search for Subjects your child will be interested in…or you’re interested in your child learning! \u00a0Traveling is a great time to play with math apps, they’re more fun when you don’t have the busyness of school work and projects to worry about. \u00a0Getting away from the school routine makes for a great time to have fun learning math facts.<\/p>\n

Here above are some games I found when I searched for Seasonal. \u00a0Of course, you can narrow it down further by choosing the right age group for your child as well. \u00a0Kids will love interacting with these fun Christmas themed apps.<\/p>\n

2.) \u00a0Find Apps that\u00a0Do Not Need WiFi<\/strong><\/p>\n

So you’re thinking, these apps look great, but can they be used without WiFI in the car or airplane? \u00a0If you notice in all the screenshots I took, I checked the box that says “Works without Internet.” \u00a0So they answer is, all of the apps we are\u00a0showing you today can be used on the plane or in the car. \u00a0Moms with Apps makes it so easy to find the apps you’re interested in…and ensure you can actually play them!\u00a0\"Moms<\/p>\n

There’s no good way to easily search for apps in Google Play or Apple iTunes to see if apps are collecting information from your child’s registration and play details. \u00a0The FTC (Federal Trade Commission) released a report earlier this year stating that nearly 60% of apps designed for children collect and share personal information on it and only 11% of these apps plainly state they are doing it!<\/p>\n
