With five tech-aged children, our home has its share of tablets (some of which have ended up in the tablet graveyard).\u00a0 Yet, our children still fight over whose turn it is to use our\u00a0newest kids tablet from Kurio, the Kurio Xtreme <\/a>powered by Intel<\/a>.\u00a0 In our experiences with tablets, there are a few needs that are apparent when it comes to choosing a kids tablet for our children.<\/p>\n

The first trait for a kids tablet to win my approval is:<\/strong><\/p>\n

  1. Ease-of-use and set-up<\/li>\n
  2. More importantly I need to know, how will it keep my kids safe from online dangers?<\/li>\n
  3. Lastly, but perhaps most important for my children; will they enjoy the tablet and feel it is age appropriate for them?<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    With this Kids Tablet, Set Up is a Snap!<\/span><\/h2>\n

    Within a few minutes, I was able to power on the Kurio Xtreme and set up profiles for each of our children.\u00a0 During the set up process you can choose an avatar or take a photo of your child.\u00a0 I chose to use an avatar with cute blonde hair and freckles, but my 9-year-old son didn’t appreciate that.\u00a0 He quickly changed the profile picture to an actual photo of himself!\u00a0 As part of the set up, you are asked to input each child’s birthday.<\/p>\n

    The Kurio Xtreme uses the birth date to create security settings based on your child’s age!\u00a0 How simple is that?\u00a0 Now, if you are a little bit more tech-savvy, or if you want to adjust the security, you have the ability to create custom settings for your child.<\/p>\n

    My children download games quickly and rarely need assistance with figuring out how to use the tablet.\u00a0 They even put their own passcode patterns on their profiles to lock their siblings out of their VERY important business.\u00a0 \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n

    Additionally, the Kurio Xtreme kids tablet comes with its own rubber case.\u00a0 You don’t have to worry about tumbles down the stairs or searching for\u00a0a case that fits with the camera holes.<\/p>\n

    Parental Controls – Are My Kids Really Safe?<\/span><\/h2>\n

    Kurio Xtreme has a built-in “genius” web filter.\u00a0 The company watches 450+ million websites each day.\u00a0 Kurio Xtreme is KidSAFE and COPPA certified<\/a>.\u00a0 As a parent, you can choose one of the pre-defined settings or you can customize to block or allow specific websites.\u00a0 Website content is filtered into various categories such as; Games, Educational, Media, and ebooks.<\/p>\n

    What I found great about this tool is that not only is there ability to customize the allowable content on each profile, but you can also choose to allow (or not) social media for those children over 13.\u00a0 Please note – if you choose to allow your 13+ aged children access to social media sites, you still want to monitor what they are posting and who they are “friends” with.\u00a0 Additionally, the Kurio Xtreme has its own kid safe internet browser powered by Google.\u00a0 You don’t have to worry about what ads will pop up or what images will show in the search engine links.<\/p>\n

    Kurio Xtreme allows the parent to create up to 8 separate profiles.\u00a0 Each profile has the capability of having its own unique rules and restrictions.\u00a0 Not only do you have the ability to set the internet and app safety settings, you also can easily set up time restrictions for each profile.\u00a0 The time management area allows the parent to set time limits for the week days and the weekends separately.<\/p>\n

    Kurio takes it even one step further.\u00a0 You are able to categorize the apps into defined labels such as games or education.\u00a0 Once you do this, you can choose which categories fall under the time restrictions.<\/p>\n

    Wait, WHAT?<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0 Yes, you heard it correctly!\u00a0 Let me give you an example.\u00a0 If my 12-year-old daughter has downloaded several game apps, but she also uses her ebook app, I can exclude that category from time restrictions.\u00a0 Also, if you don’t want educational apps to be restricted, you do not have to include that in the time limits!<\/p>\n

    \u00a0But Will My Kids Approve It?<\/span><\/h2>\n

    Yes! Kurio Xtreme is powered by an Intel\u00ae Atom\u00ae Z2520\u20131.2 GHz Dual core processor.\u00a0 That means that your children will be able to play all of their favorite games without a speed lag or delay.\u00a0 The Kurio Xtreme is loaded with nearly 100 apps! \u00a0 And of course there a Google Play store and a Kurio store to download additional apps.<\/p>\n

    One of the best features of this tablet is the pre-loaded Kurio Motion Games.\u00a0 Using the front facing camera, the tablet has motion sensors that allow for interactive games, including motion sports.\u00a0 The Kurio Xtreme comes with a stand to allow the tablet to sit on a table for the motion games.\u00a0 It also comes with 16GB of storage space, with an expandable storage of a 32 GB slot.<\/p>\n
