We have used many types and sizes of tablets in our family.  Although none of my kids have their “own” tablet, tablets are freely available to use downstairs once homework is done.<\/p>\n

I recently went to my daughter’s Back-to-School night at her new junior high school.  Her science teacher mentioned that tablets are allowed in the classroom.  In fact, students are encouraged to bring them to search for things online that accompany their studies in class.<\/p>\n

But before I could entertain the thought of letting my daughter have her own tablet, I needed to ensure that whatever tablet she receives would be robust enough for school, yet not overly expensive in case of drops, theft, or loss.  I also wanted to ensure that the tablet was not heavy, as her backpack is already too heavy.<\/p>\n
