That may sound like an exaggeration, but when you discover the many features that the S7 phone and S7 Edge offer, you will begin to see just how attractive they are. Anyone in the market for a new smartphone is sure to find something they like. In fact, if you are looking to upgrade, switch from an existing device, or buy your child or spouse a smartphone of their own, you may want to consider this one. Here are five (truly compelling) reasons why:

5 Reasons in Considering the Galaxy S7 Phone

1. Waterproofing

If you’ve seen any of the advertising for the new Galaxy S7 phone (Samsung ran a rather humorous spot during the Oscars telecast starring William H. Macy, among other celebrities), then you know the phone is waterproof. Though that may seem fairly trivial, in a day and age when everything from our watches to our jackets are designed to deflect water with ease, it’s fairly revolutionary for the smartphone industry.

Designed to withstand immersion in up to 1.5 meters (or approximately five feet) of water for up to 30 minutes, the Galaxy S7 phone can take a coffee being accidentally spilled on it without missing a beat. You don’t have to worry about your son jumping in a pool with the phone in his pocket, or your daughter texting with friends on a rainy day. With older smartphones, such carelessness might result in a broken phone and $500 bill – not so with the Samsung S7 phone.

2. Expandable Memory

Music, movies, apps, mobile games, TV shows, and photos (if you’re like most people, this means lots and lots of photos) all take up storage space. Increasingly, the solution for this is cloud-based storage. On paper, it’s a great idea; with the cloud, you can access all of your files at once, from anywhere, at any time. Better yet, it allows you to keep your device lean and mean, because the data isn’t stored locally. In practice, however, the cloud can be a burden.

Storing data in the cloud means managing access privileges, remembering user credentials, and having an Internet connection at all times (without the Internet, there is no cloud). Sometimes, it’s better to simply store the files you want on your device. The Samsung Galaxy S7 phone accommodates this with expandable memory. If the phone’s built-in storage isn’t sufficient, you can supplement it with a microSD card, providing for up to 200GB of additional storage space.

3. Using a compatible charging pad, you can simply place your phone down to begin charging it. And smartphones don’t have the most powerful flashes, so you’re often left with few options. The new Samsung S7 aims to correct this with an all-new camera designed and optimized for low light conditions.

Combining a more sensitive and powerful double-pixel camera sensor with a new camera lens that physically draws in more light, the Galaxy S7 phone may be the first smartphone to actually take decent photos “in the dark.” Obviously, it won’t work in true dark, but for those group photos at your favorite restaurant, it should work perfectly. Both offer a Quad-HD display with four times the image resolution of standard high definition; however, the Galaxy S7 Edge has a slightly larger screen (5.5 inches) that wraps over the left and right side of the phone. This unique form factor provides for a wide range of user experience and interface possibilities – you can list contacts along the edge of your screen for ease of access or keep a news feed visible so that you are up to date on the latest events.
