The last Faire this year drew over 125,000 people.&nbsp; New York hosts the 2nd largest worldwide Maker Faire and will draw 100,000 people.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>So are the attendees groupies will the fair draw in new crowds?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Bay Area Maker Faire (May) draws in an average of 44% of first timer attendees each year and New York draws in 61% of first-timers.&nbsp; And guess what?&nbsp; Maker Faires are a perfect event to take your kids to!<\/p>\n<p>In my mind, Maker Faires scream STEAM!&nbsp; STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics.&nbsp; The Maker presenters show what they&#8217;ve done with imagination, curiosity, and creativity and inspire attendees to do the same.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Bay Area Maker Faire has already passed this year but the <a href=\"https:\/\/makerfaire.com\/new-york\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">New York Maker Faire<\/a>, which takes place in Queens, is next week, Sept. 22-23rd.&nbsp; It will feature over 800 projects and include tons of hands-on activities&nbsp;on all sorts of projects for all ages and skill levels.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Stages and attractions include:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>social impact and making for good<\/li>\n<li>healthcare<\/li>\n<li>the future of food<\/li>\n<li>art installations on display<\/li>\n<li>the latest developments in\n<ul>\n<li>&nbsp;microelectronics<\/li>\n<li>3D printing<\/li>\n<li>drones<\/li>\n<li>robotics<\/li>\n<li>and more<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Coke Zero &amp; Mentos Show from&nbsp;Eepybird<\/li>\n<li><b>Cosplay Contest<\/b>: to find the most creative DIY costumes Makers are making!<\/li>\n<li><b>The Hand of Man<\/b>: Creator Christian Ristow&#8217;s 26 foot-long, hydraulically actuated human hand and forearm controlled by a glove device, which is capable of picking up and crushing cars<\/li>\n<li><b>Gaming and Mixed Reality<\/b>: new exhibit areas showcase experiments in the emerging landscape of AR, VR and game interfaces<\/li>\n<li><b>Sculptor&nbsp;<span class=\"xn-person\">Adrian Landon<\/span><\/b>: The hand-hewn steel kinetic sculptures of this celebrated NYC Saatchi artist will be on display<\/li>\n<li><b>The Dark Room<\/b>: An entire exhibit hall devoted to light-driven, interactive projects, and immersive art<\/li>\n<li><b>The DIY Content Creators&#8217; Stage<\/b>: a new stage and lounge devoted solely to the YouTubers of the Maker Movement<\/li>\n<li>and so much more!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>How Much Does a Ticket Cost?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If you <a href=\"https:\/\/makerfaire.com\/new-york\/buy-tickets\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">buy tickets<\/a> at the show, it&#8217;s $50 per day for adults and $30 per day for students and youths.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>If you buy your tickets in advance (by Sept. 21), they are $40 per for adults and $25 per day for kids.&nbsp; You can buy a weekend pass for $80 per adult and $50 per child at the show and save $10 each ticket if you buy before Sept. 21st.<\/p>\n<p>The bigger Maker Faires typically offer an Early Bird special pricing if you buy 1 1\/2 months before the show as well.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>NY Location<\/strong>:&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><small>SATURDAY &amp;
