With the iPad 2<\/a>\u00a0recently hitting the market, there was a replay of all the flurry that accompanied the original iPad introduction\u00a0over\u00a0one year ago.\u00a0 Only it’s different this time because it’s\u00a0the masses (not the bleeding edge tech lovers) that are interested in getting their hands on an updated\u00a0iPad.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

According to Reuters<\/a>\u00a0estimation, nearly 1 million iPad 2’s were sold\u00a0during its opening weekend.\u00a0 These numbers are pretty remarkable when you consider that the original iPad sold 1 million units…after 28 days of being on the market!\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Check out all the initial reviews, Consumer Reports<\/a>, cnet<\/a>, and techlicious<\/a>.\u00a0\u00a0 All three of them recommend that the iPad tablet is the one tablet to buy.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

I agree that the iPad 2 is a great tablet.\u00a0 Though it’s not significantly\u00a0better than the original iPad.\u00a0 Truthfully, the iPad 2 should have been the first introduction, but Apple wanted to give people a reason to upgrade.\u00a0 The megapixels\u00a0on the much awaited dual cameras on the iPad 2 are less than desirable.\u00a0 Again, probably a part of Apple’s plan to get people to upgrade to the forthcoming (you know they’re already working on it!) iPad 3.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Do I believe the iPad 2\u00a0is preferrable to the Motorola Xoom, Galaxy Tab, Dell Streak, or others?\u00a0\u00a0No.\u00a0 These Android tablets have a lot to offer consumers and do not suffer from the limitations set forth by Apple.\u00a0 The main benefit of buying Apple is that there are more apps and accessories available than any other tablet.\u00a0 If you want the most variety, Apple is your best bet.\u00a0 However… \"Dell\u00a0<\/p>\n

Other Tablets Pack More Punch for Your Money.<\/span><\/h2>\n

They include:\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Upgradeable and Removable SD Memory<\/span>.\u00a0 This is a huge benefit for adding more memory without having to buy a new unit.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Convenience<\/span>.\u00a0 Having a tablet that fits better in a pocket or purse is very handy.\u00a0 It is less of a burden to take along with you on daily errands\/lunches\/trips.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Camera Resolution<\/span>\u00a0– Many tablets have a better resolution on both their front and rear facing cameras over the iPad 2.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Customization<\/span>.\u00a0 Customizable home pages are nice as well as the flexibility on how you organize your apps. Apple locks these things down.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Growing Popularity<\/span>.\u00a0 Android has now beat Apple in being the most used Operating System got mobile.\u00a0 The gap in Apples’ massive lead in app development will\u00a0close within the next few years.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Openness<\/span>.\u00a0 There are a number of apps available\u00a0in the Android market that Apple refuses to sell in their app market.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

I believe these are very compelling reasons why consumers should feel very satisfied in buying another tablet over an iPad 2.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

What\u00a0To Ask Yourself When Buying a Tablet:<\/span><\/h2>\n

1.)\u00a0 Is the convenience<\/span> of having a smaller size tablet a high priority? (Android)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

2.)\u00a0 Do you prefer accessible and portable memory<\/span>\u00a0such as SD cards in loading and transferring data? (Android)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

3.)\u00a0 Do you plan on taking a lot of pictures\/videos<\/span> on your tablet and prefer good quality pictures and video? (Android)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

4. )\u00a0 Do you like to customize your homepage<\/span>? (Android)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

5.)\u00a0 Do you like to see webpages with embedded Flash videos<\/span> and be able to view the videos right on the page? (Android)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

8.) Do you like to be a part of the latest and hottest technology everyone is talking about<\/span>?\u00a0 (iPad – the latest status symbol!)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

9.)\u00a0 Do you already have a large collection of iTunes<\/span> in your library and prefer the easiest transition<\/span> to your tablet?\u00a0 (iPad)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

10.) Is battery power essential<\/span> for you and you’d prefer the tablet with the best power management?\u00a0 (iPad)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Although tablets are all the talk these days, Tablets.com<\/a>\u00a0reported that as of the end of 2010, 99.7% of the population still does not own one.\u00a0 However,\u00a0 in a report conducted by RBC Capital Markets analyst Mike Abramsky, he predicted that there will be more than\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201c400 million tablet users worldwide by 2014, including 185 million tablets sold in 2014. But he thinks Google Android, not Apple, will come to lead the market, representing 40% of the 2014 tablet market, versus 34% for Apple, 13% for Microsoft, 8% for BlackBerry, and 5% for HP WebOS.\u201d<\/em>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Tablets aren’t going away.\u00a0 One thing is guaranteed, the longer you wait, the better the features will get, and the lower the cost.\u00a0 Since the iPad2\u00a0introduction, it’s been reported that Samsung will likely reduce the cost of the Galaxy Tab to $399 for it’s upcoming WiFi version, thus selling $100 less than the new iPad 2.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
