\nHow many USB thumb drives do you own? \u00a0As I have been to many conferences, I have\u00a0practically\u00a0a whole drawer full! \u00a0So when I saw this opportunity come through my e-mail to review the new Kingston DataTraveler urDrive USB drives I was ready to pass…until something caught my eye.<\/p>\n

The Kingston urDrive thumb drives are touted as “active drives,” meaning you can actually install and run programs programs on the USB drive, and even use the browser that is pre-installed. \u00a0So I know what you’re thinking, “OK, so what does that mean?”<\/p>\n

Let me give you an example. \u00a0When I was staying at a Marriott hotel in Dearborn, MI this Summer for the Forward with Ford<\/a> conference, I used the public computer off the lobby to check my e-mail. \u00a0When I was done I signed off. \u00a0To my surprise, I received the following e-mail:<\/p>\n

I stayed at the Deerborn Inn about the same time as you. When I opened the browser at the public computers\u00a0<\/span>off the lobby and entered “g-mail”, your e-mail account appeared. I deleted it of course without reading it other than to note\u00a0<\/span>you e-mail address to let you know about the incident. I found it difficult to delete my g-mail account when I was finished as\u00a0<\/span>I’m sure you did. Eventually I figured it out and deleted the whole cache and re-booted but I thought I’d let you know in case\u00a0<\/span>you want to change passwords etc.<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/address>\n

I was shocked! \u00a0I knew I closed out my account. \u00a0I really appreciated the fact that\u00a0John notified me. \u00a0Was this happening at other public computers?<\/p>\n

The Kingston urDrive USB, when plugged into a computer, actually gives you your own\u00a0desktop\u00a0window, a safe self-enclosed environment that lies on top of whatever computer or laptop you’re working on. \u00a0So using the built-in browser, there’s no need to close out your Facebook, e-mail, Twitter accounts, etc. and worry that someone will get in to them. \u00a0All you do is remove your urDrive and everything goes with you.<\/p>\n

You can even play a picture slideshow (and rotate pics) from within your urDrive:<\/p>\n

Apps Store:<\/span><\/strong> \u00a0There are apps you can get for free and apps you can pay for through the Store:<\/p>\n

Kingston even included the ever popular and parent controlled Kidoz <\/a>software, which provides a safe environment for your kids to see their favorite character online content.<\/p>\n

Browser<\/span><\/strong>: \u00a0The Kingston urDrive is the built-in browser. \u00a0The browser uses tabbed browsing and better yet, you can save your favorites and the browser will remember all of your passwords.<\/p>\n
