Every 2nd Monday of February has been designated as such by the Institute for Business Technology.\u00a0 What a brilliant idea.<\/div>\n<p>I&#8217;ll be the first to admit that I am a pro at quickly getting a smooth, fast running\u00a0computer to run slow.\u00a0 I tend to download different programs to try out &#8211; some trials, some full versions.\u00a0 My desktop tends to collect\u00a0a zoo of\u00a0shortcut links &#8211; so many that they are no longer &#8220;shortcuts&#8221; since I need to wade through a ton of shortcuts to find the shortcut I&#8217;m looking for!\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2>\u00a0<\/h2>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #800080;\">What are Some of the Main Reasons Your Computer May be Running Slow?\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Extra programs\/services could be loading when you boot up your computer that you don&#8217;t need.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>The <a title=\"Windows registry\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Windows_Registry\" target=\"_blank\">Windows registry<\/a>, which stores settings and options for the Windows operating system gets overloaded with unnecessary references which can cause your computer to crash or freeze.<\/li>\n<li>Security threats can cause issues with your computer.<\/li>\n<li>Temporary and history files divert your computer&#8217;s processing power and should be discarded frequently.<\/li>\n<li>Hard drives and RAM (system memory) get fragmented which make it harder for your computer to open files and start programs.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>I have tried various &#8220;free trials&#8221; for computer clean-up programs.\u00a0 They seem to work great and give me an entire laundry list of all the problems I have.\u00a0 Then they fix only five and say that&#8217;s all the trial can do for me.\u00a0 What a disappointment.\u00a0 So I obtained a copy of <a title=\"System Mechanic\" href=\"http:\/\/www.iolo.com\/system-mechanic\/standard\/\" target=\"_blank\">System Mechanic<\/a>\u00a0from the folks at <a title=\"Iolo.com\" href=\"http:\/\/iolo.com\" target=\"_blank\">Iolo.com<\/a>\u00a0to review their product and report back to you if it helped my computer.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>To no surprise, I received a system status of &#8220;poor.&#8221;\u00a0 I knew this was the case because my computer runs sluggish and takes a long time to boot up.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wellconnectedmom.thewellconnectedhome.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/First-Scan-System-Status-is-Poor.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-631 alignleft\" title=\"System Mechanic 9.5, pc tune-up, wellconnectedmom.com, mom tech\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wellconnectedmom.thewellconnectedhome.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/First-Scan-System-Status-is-Poor.jpg?resize=799%2C597\" alt=\"\" width=\"799\" height=\"597\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wellconnectedmom.com\/blog\/p-content\/themes\/atahualpa342\/images\/articles\/2010\/02\/First-Scan-System-Status-is-Poor.jpg?w=799&amp;ssl=1 799w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wellconnectedmom.com\/blog\/p-content\/themes\/atahualpa342\/images\/articles\/2010\/02\/First-Scan-System-Status-is-Poor.jpg?resize=300%2C224&amp;ssl=1 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 799px) 100vw, 799px\" \/><\/a>\u00a0<span style=\"color: #888888;\"><span style=\"color: #888888;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>What I didn&#8217;t realize was how bad off my poor computer was.\u00a0 I had over 412 registry problems, 15 vulnerable security issues,\u00a0and 1 GB of system clutter!\u00a0 Yikes!\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wellconnectedmom.thewellconnectedhome.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/Problems-to-fix.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"Problems to fix\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wellconnectedmom.thewellconnectedhome.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/Problems-to-fix.jpg?resize=795%2C838\" alt=\"System Mechanic 9.5, pc tune-up, wellconnectedmom.com mom tech\" width=\"795\" height=\"838\" \/><\/a>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>To further enhance my computer&#8217;s effectiveness, I found that I could\u00a0turn off\u00a0 programs and services I didn&#8217;t use much:<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/wellconnectedmom.thewellconnectedhome.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/Problems-to-fix.jpg\"><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wellconnectedmom.thewellconnectedhome.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/Turned-off-programs-and-services-not-used-much.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"Turned off programs and services not used much\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wellconnectedmom.thewellconnectedhome.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/Turned-off-programs-and-services-not-used-much.jpg?resize=795%2C593\" alt=\"System Mechanic 9.5, pc tune-up, wellconnectedmom.com mom tech\" width=\"795\" height=\"593\" \/><\/a>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>I have to admit, I love diagnostic tools like this &#8211; and System Mechanic 9.5 is full of over 40 useful tools that you can use automatically or as needed:\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/wellconnectedmom.thewellconnectedhome.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/Problems-to-fix.jpg\"><\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/wellconnectedmom.thewellconnectedhome.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/Turned-off-programs-and-services-not-used-much.jpg\"><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wellconnectedmom.thewellconnectedhome.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/Automatically-Repair.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"Automatically Repair\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wellconnectedmom.thewellconnectedhome.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/Automatically-Repair.jpg?resize=797%2C602\" alt=\"System Mechanic 9.5, pc tune-up, wellconnectedmom.com mom tech\" width=\"797\" height=\"602\" \/><\/a>\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>OK, you&#8217;re probably wondering how did my computer fare through all of these tests and pokes?\u00a0 Here are my final results after running the complete diagnostics twice, the same day I loaded the program:\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/wellconnectedmom.thewellconnectedhome.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/Problems-to-fix.jpg\"><\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/wellconnectedmom.thewellconnectedhome.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/Turned-off-programs-and-services-not-used-much.jpg\"><\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/wellconnectedmom.thewellconnectedhome.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/Automatically-Repair.jpg\"><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wellconnectedmom.thewellconnectedhome.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/Final-Results.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"Final Results\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wellconnectedmom.thewellconnectedhome.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/Final-Results.jpg?resize=792%2C599\" alt=\"System Mechanic 9.5, pc tune-up, wellconnectedmomm.com, mom tech\" width=\"792\" height=\"599\" \/><\/a>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>As you can see, I was able to recover nearly 1 GB of hard drive space and 222 MB of RAM, fix over 400 registry problems, repair 15 security vulnerabilities, and take care\u00a0of 7 start up problems.\u00a0 Phew! \u00a0That&#8217;s a lot of fixes!\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>System Mechanic 9.5 is the number one selling PC tune-up software on the market.\u00a0 They have repaired over 70 million computers since 1998.\u00a0 System Mechanic retails for $49.95 but is currently offered for $24.95 at Iolo&#8217;s <a title=\"website\" href=\"http:\/\/www.iolo.com\/system-mechanic\/standard\/\" target=\"_blank\">website<\/a>\u00a0for a one-year licence.\u00a0 System Mechanic call also be purchased at Costco, Sam&#8217;s, Target, Best Buy, Office Max, Office Depot, etc.<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #800080;\">A Mom&#8217;s Perspective<\/span>\u00a0<\/h2>\n<p>I shudder to think where I was headed with my computer had I not been able to fix a lot of these issues now.\u00a0 I was already starting to have some strange problems with my computer before I tried System Mechanic 9.5.\u00a0 My hope is that those issues are far behind me.\u00a0 As with kids, if you don&#8217;t nip things in the bud right away, you&#8217;ll have larger problems later.\u00a0 Take the time today or this week to clean up your computer.\u00a0 Keeping your computer in check will help increase the longevity of your computer.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Well, after loading the System Mechanic software, retreiving all the drive and memory space, and fixing registry, security, and start-up issues in under 15 minutes, I feel as if I have saved several hours of work.\u00a0 Time for a long lunch!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Clean Out Your Computer Day helps people clear out unneeded files and programs off their computers.
