Did you ever say “Did You Hear Me?” to your teen? \u00a0Probably one too many times. \u00a0Although teens are prone not to hear you even without earphones on, there is a new headphone that may help your teen better hear you while listening to their music. \u00a0The new headphones are called AfterShokz<\/a>*. \u00a0I found them at the Consumer Electronics Show <\/a>earlier this year and favored them in our Valentine’s Day Gifts for the Loves in Your Life<\/a>.<\/p>\n

How Are AfterShokz Different than Other Headphones?<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Simple. \u00a0They don’t enter your ear. \u00a0They are placed outside your ear on your upper cheekbone. \u00a0This positioning is beneficial for several reasons:<\/p>\n

  1. the music won’t damage your ears<\/li>\n
  2. you can hear outside\u00a0noises\u00a0such as the phone ringing, horns honking, cars approaching, your name being called, etc.<\/li>\n
  3. the headphones fit better around your ears and work better for running and physical activities<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    How Does the AfterShokz Technology Work?<\/span><\/strong><\/div>\n

    The idea of wearing headphones on your cheekbones comes from the military. \u00a0While in combat, soldiers need to be able to have mic and headphone communication with one another yet have their ears open to hear the enemy approaching. \u00a0Sound waves can travel in two ways:<\/div>\n
    1.) \u00a0through the air to the ear drum<\/div>\n
    2.) \u00a0through direct vibration in the bones in the head which carry vibrations directly to the inner ear<\/div>\n

    AfterShokz work best during any activity where having the ability to hear outside noise would be beneficial. \u00a0Although great for adults, I definitely can see how AfterShokz would be extremely helpful for kids. \u00a0I love the fact that 1.) the headphones wouldn’t harm their long-term hearing and 2.) the kids could still hear me when I need to get their attention. \u00a0Here are some ways AfterShokz would be very useful, allowing you to keep an ear out for possible accidents:<\/p>\n
