\u00a0The term &#8220;flick&#8221; means you can send the pictures, music, or video to your TV or other DNLA compliant device. \u00a0OK, but what does DNLA mean and how do you know if your device is DLNA compliant? \u00a0DLNA stands for Digital Living Network Alliance. \u00a0According to Wikipedia,<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<address><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">The\u00a0<strong>Digital Living Network Alliance<\/strong>\u00a0(<strong>DLNA<\/strong>) is a\u00a0<a title=\"Non-profit\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Non-profit\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">non-profit<\/span><\/a>\u00a0collaborative\u00a0<a title=\"Trade organization\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Trade_organization\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">trade organization<\/span><\/a>\u00a0established by\u00a0<a title=\"Sony\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Sony\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Sony<\/span><\/a>\u00a0in June 2003, that is responsible for defining interoperability guidelines to enable sharing of digital media between consumer devices such as computers, printers, cameras, cell phones, and other multimedia devices. These guidelines are built upon existing public standards, but the guidelines themselves are private (available for a fee). These guidelines specify a set of restricted ways of using the standards in order to achieve interoperability.<sup id=\"cite_ref-2\"><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Digital_Living_Network_Alliance#cite_note-2\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">[3]<\/span><\/a><\/sup><\/span><\/address>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-6740\" title=\"WCM Sony Tablet S (3)-400\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wellconnectedmom.com\/blog\/p-content\/themes\/atahualpa342\/images\/articles\/2012\/04\/WCM-Sony-Tablet-S-3-400.jpg?resize=400%2C213&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"213\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wellconnectedmom.com\/blog\/p-content\/themes\/atahualpa342\/images\/articles\/2012\/04\/WCM-Sony-Tablet-S-3-400.jpg?w=400&amp;ssl=1 400w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wellconnectedmom.com\/blog\/p-content\/themes\/atahualpa342\/images\/articles\/2012\/04\/WCM-Sony-Tablet-S-3-400.jpg?resize=300%2C159&amp;ssl=1 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>DLNA allows for devices with the DLNA protocol built-in to talk to discover, manage media, and control one another. \u00a0Using software programs or apps, you can pick a video, song, or picture&#8230;look at your list of DLNA compliant devices, and &#8220;flick&#8221; the media to the device. \u00a0All DLNA devices need to be connected to your network to work together.<\/p>\n<p>Any device I buy I make sure they are DLNA compliant. \u00a0All of our TV&#8217;s have DLNA, along with our new receiver, Ditto Media Storage drive, etc. \u00a0This way I can show pictures or play music from my computer or phone on any of our TV&#8217;s. \u00a0Sony preloaded an app called <a href=\"http:\/\/www.imediashare.tv\/\" target=\"_blank\">iMediaShare<\/a>. \u00a0I &#8220;flicked&#8221; up some great &#8220;pretty&#8221; pictures on our TV in our family room during a party &#8211; a scene of a castle, a sunset, etc. \u00a0It was easy to do and really added to our atmosphere. This weekend, we had some friends over and we played the <a href=\"https:\/\/wellconnectedmom.com\/blog\/2011\/12\/25\/the-black-eyed-peas-experience\/\" target=\"_blank\">Kinect Black-eyed Peas Experience<\/a> (what a fun game!). \u00a0I shot photos and videos of everyone dancing and flicked them up to the TV, they loved it! \u00a0I&#8217;ve never been able to display pictures so fast on a TV before. \u00a0Love it.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #800080;\">PS3 Games&#8230;on a Tablet?<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/wellconnectedmom.com\/blog\/2012\/04\/25\/the-new-sony-android-tablet-s\/crash-bandicoot-ps3-on-tablet-s-4-400\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-6749\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-6749\" title=\"Crash Bandicoot PS3 on Tablet S (4)-400\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wellconnectedmom.com\/blog\/p-content\/themes\/atahualpa342\/images\/articles\/2012\/04\/Crash-Bandicoot-PS3-on-Tablet-S-4-400.jpg?resize=400%2C225&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wellconnectedmom.com\/blog\/p-content\/themes\/atahualpa342\/images\/articles\/2012\/04\/Crash-Bandicoot-PS3-on-Tablet-S-4-400.jpg?w=400&amp;ssl=1 400w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wellconnectedmom.com\/blog\/p-content\/themes\/atahualpa342\/images\/articles\/2012\/04\/Crash-Bandicoot-PS3-on-Tablet-S-4-400.jpg?resize=300%2C168&amp;ssl=1 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>During the Techlicious Blogger event, I got the chance to play the Pinball Heroes game on the tablet with a PS3 controller. \u00a0That was really fun. \u00a0To <a href=\"http:\/\/esupport.sony.com\/perl\/support-info.pl?template_id=1&amp;info_id=941&amp;template_id=1&amp;region_id=1\" target=\"_blank\">connect your PS3 controller to your S tablet<\/a>, \u00a0you first need to buy a Tablet S USB dongle and follow these online <a href=\"http:\/\/esupport.sony.com\/perl\/support-info.pl?template_id=1&amp;info_id=941&amp;template_id=1&amp;region_id=1\" target=\"_blank\">instructions<\/a>. \u00a0It really added to the excitement of playing Pinball Heroes and Crash Bandicoot using a PS3 controller &#8211; it took my gameplay to another level. \u00a0I don&#8217;t have the USB dongle at home, but I just ordered one so I can use our PS3 controller with the Tablet S at home with my six-year old son, I know he&#8217;ll love it, as he&#8217;s a fan of Crash Bandicoot.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #800080;\">Video Unlimited and Music Unlimited<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-6744\" title=\"WCM Sony Tablet S (6)-400\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wellconnectedmom.com\/blog\/p-content\/themes\/atahualpa342\/images\/articles\/2012\/04\/WCM-Sony-Tablet-S-6-400.jpg?resize=400%2C252&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"252\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wellconnectedmom.com\/blog\/p-content\/themes\/atahualpa342\/images\/articles\/2012\/04\/WCM-Sony-Tablet-S-6-400.jpg?w=400&amp;ssl=1 400w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wellconnectedmom.com\/blog\/p-content\/themes\/atahualpa342\/images\/articles\/2012\/04\/WCM-Sony-Tablet-S-6-400.jpg?resize=300%2C189&amp;ssl=1 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Sony has recently introduced two new entertainment options across all their platforms called <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sonyentertainmentnetwork.com\/video-unlimited\/\" target=\"_blank\">Video Unlimited<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sonyentertainmentnetwork.com\/music-unlimited\/why-music-unlimited\/\" target=\"_blank\">Music Unlimited<\/a>. \u00a0One login gets you into both. \u00a0In Video Unlimited you can rent or buy SD and HD videos. \u00a0I purchased the Harry Potter Order of the Phoenix*, as my nine-year old has made us all Harry Potter fans. \u00a0The movie was 1700 mb, so I have plenty of room on my\u00a0 16GB Tablet S to house the movie.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/wellconnectedmom.com\/blog\/2012\/04\/25\/the-new-sony-android-tablet-s\/wcm-sony-tablet-s-5-400\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-6742\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-6742\" title=\"WCM Sony Tablet S (5)-400\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wellconnectedmom.com\/blog\/p-content\/themes\/atahualpa342\/images\/articles\/2012\/04\/WCM-Sony-Tablet-S-5-400.jpg?resize=400%2C261&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"261\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wellconnectedmom.com\/blog\/p-content\/themes\/atahualpa342\/images\/articles\/2012\/04\/WCM-Sony-Tablet-S-5-400.jpg?w=400&amp;ssl=1 400w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wellconnectedmom.com\/blog\/p-content\/themes\/atahualpa342\/images\/articles\/2012\/04\/WCM-Sony-Tablet-S-5-400.jpg?resize=300%2C195&amp;ssl=1 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I browsed through Music Unlimited and enjoyed 15 second clips of music from the songs I chose. \u00a0I was trying to determine which Taylor Swift album my daughter would enjoy the most. \u00a0But then I realized that unlike Video Unlimited, Music Unlimited requires a monthly subscription, so I didn&#8217;t purchase it. \u00a0Sony does offer the first month free but then you will be billed automatically to your credit card afterwards. \u00a0 The monthly cost is $9.99. \u00a0However, you then have any album or song at your fingertips ready to play at a moment&#8217;s notice. \u00a0You can listen to the music on any of your Sony devices&#8230;smartphone, tablet, TV,\u00a0receivers, network speakers, etc. \u00a0You can even create playlists.<\/p>\n<p>More and more data is moving to the cloud which makes it handier and more accessible to us. \u00a0No longer do you need to buy mp3&#8217;s, now you have access to them all anywhere with a monthly subscription. As I am\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.lagonian.com\/article\/?selectid=734\" target=\"_blank\">a PS3 Ambassador<\/a>, I can&#8217;t wait to further explore the synergies between the <a href=\"https:\/\/wellconnectedmom.com\/blog\/2011\/12\/14\/why-a-playstation-3\/\" target=\"_blank\">PS3<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/wellconnectedmom.com\/blog\/2012\/04\/11\/first-impressions-of-the-ps-vita\/\" target=\"_blank\">PS Vita<\/a>\u00a0with regards to gaming, pictures, music, and more. \u00a0It&#8217;s so exciting what the future of technology and access of data will bring. \u00a0Sony with its media powerhouse of music, movies, and games will continue to drive innovation and synergies.<\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>* \u00a0I was given a Sony S tablet and a code for use in the Music\/Video Unlimited app in exchange for my honest feedback. \u00a0All expressed opinions are my own.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sony&#8217;s new Tablet S with it&#8217;s unique design makes it easier to hold in your hand for long periods of time.
