I recently came back from a trip to Walmart.com headquarters in San Bruno, CA. Walmart.com is responsible for all Walmart websites as well as the Walmart app. Now, I know we all have hundreds of apps on our phones and it just gets too crowded to add an app for every store you visit too. But, the Walmart app is one to really consider downloading.
The Walmart App has a lot of features like…
- a scanner so you can scan products with your phone to find out the price
- helping you find a Walmart store, no matter where you are
- the Walmart Weekly Ad
- giving you the ability to purchase products easily on Walmart.com from your phone
- 1-Hour Photo where you can upload pics from your phone and pick up the physical pic from your Walmart store an hour later
- the Walmart mobile Pharmacy where you can easily get prescription refills and transfer a prescription
I used to like a pharmacy near us where I could drive up, drop off my prescription, drive back in 20 minutes and get my prescription…all without having to get out of the car. This is convenient, but being a tech savvy mom, I’ve always hoped their be a better way of seeing your prescription history and refilling prescriptions. If I could ease this process and use technology I already have in my hand, I’m all in.
Is your pharmacy on your phone? I have been exploring Walmart’s Pharmacy features in their Walmart App (Android, iPhone), and I can’t wait to use it. Let me give you an overview of what you can do with it.
Walmart App – Pharmacy on Your Phone
Walmart recently added two new features to the Pharmacy section of their Walmart app. You can now transfer prescriptions into Walmart and Refill prescriptions using the app. It’s like having a pharmacy on your phone!
1. Transfer Prescriptions
You can transfer your prescription from one pharmacy to Walmart by filling out this form on your phone. Walmart will take care of the rest and let you know when your prescription has been successfully transferred.
2. Refill Prescriptions
If your prescription is already at Walmart, you can refill your prescriptions simply by using the Refill From Label button to easily begin the process of refilling your prescriptions.
Family Prescriptions
As a parent or caregiver, you can fill any new prescription on your family member’s behalf in-store, as long as you know their name, address, and birth date. You can have the doctor call the prescription in ahead of time or come to Walmart with the original prescription from the doctor.
There are two ways to manage your family’s prescriptions using the Pharmacy section within the Walmart App:
1.) Create only your account and use the Refill from Label button to refill your family member’s prescription. However, since it’s not in your name, it will not become a part of your order history.
2.) Create a new account for each member of your family in order to utilize the convenient features like Automatic Refills, viewing refill history, and more. Due to HIPPA compliancy, it is not possible to have one family account where you can manage all of your family members prescriptions.
The Walmart app containing the Pharmacy app is free and available for both Android and iOS.
