5 Valentine’s Day Gadgets for the Loves in Your Life

Love is in the air!  Chocolates and flowers are nice, but technology lasts longer and has no calories!

This year’s Valentine’s Day Gadgets list we put together after seeing all of these items at the latest CES (Consumer Electronics Show).

Since then, we’ve tested all of these gadgets to ensure they work as promised…and they do!

This Valentine’s Day, whether showering love on your partner, child, college student, grandparent, or friends, we have a list of 5 gadgets worth looking into!

5 Valentine’s Day Gadgets

1. TOPGREENER Quick Charge 3.0 Wall Charger

The TOPGREENER Quick Charge 3.0 Wall Charger is a fast wall charger giving you an 18W fast, Qualcomm certified charge to your Samsung GS 5+, Samsung Note 5+, iPhone 6+, iPad + and more.

This inexpensive charger can charge your love’s phone 4x faster than a conventional charger.

Even better, it uses an inclusive Intellichip technology to optimize each charge unique for every device, ensuring it prevents over-charging, over-current, and overheating.

It uses up to 2.4 Amps for non-quick charge devices, so no worry about burning out an older phone.

Just plug in your phone-specific charging cord into the TOPGREENER Quick Charge Wall Charger and your love’s phone will charge in no time.

It even supports voltage up to 240v to ensure quick charging even in other countries without concern of frying your phone.

The TOPGREENER Quick Charge 3.0 Wall Charger is available through Amazon for $12.99 with free shipping.

2. Kingston Nucleum USB-C Hub

The Kingston Nucleum USB-C Hub is great for work,  school, or home.  If your love has a newer laptop or MacBook Pro, it likely has the new standard USB-C port on it.

The Kingston Nucleum USB-C Hub plugs into the laptop’s USB-C port to extend its connections to up to 7 devices.  Now you can connect these items to the laptop too:

  • USB 3.1 Type-C power pass through (to charge aType C newer phone)

It’s much less expensive to buy the  Kingston Nucleum USB-C Hub and get a less expensive laptop.

The Kingston Nucleum USB-C Hub is available through Amazon for $49.99 including free shipping.

3.  Luci Connect Smart Solar Light

Every year at CES, I love to see what MPOWERD is up to with their Luci Solar Lantern.  The Luci Solar Lantern is an inflatable solar light that uses the sun to charge up the light.  The company was created to empower over 3 billion people around the world who do not have reliable access to electricity.

Once the sun goes down, kids can’t study or play outside, clinics close, and it is less safe for women to walk outside.

Although some use kerosene lamps, they are dangerous, toxic, and expensive.  The Luci Solar Lantern can charge for hours on a single charge, with power stored from the sun.  They are lightweight, easy to carry, and can even float.

To appeal to a broader audience and get their mission known further, MPOWERED recently came out with their first Luci Connect Smart Solar Light, that is also a mobile charger.  It too charges by storing solar energy in its 7.4 Wh lithium-ion battery.  But it also features a 2-way USB port for direct and mobile charging.

What also makes the  Luci Connect Smart Solar Light unique from its other lanterns is that this one has its own app. The lamp diffuses 36 LEDs (24 white + 12 RGB, up to 250 lumens) for a mood-setting glow.

With the app, you have unlimited color customization, a timer and schedule setting, preset and custom mood colors.  You also have the ability to adjust the light’s brightness, hue, transition speed between colors, and the ability to check the battery life.

The Luci Connect Smart Solar Light is great for camping (especially with the timer or scheduler to turn off) or great for your kid’s sleepovers.  It can be hung easily with its built-in handle.  With the ability to change the colors, it’s fun for both kids and adults.

The Luci Connect Smart Solar Light is available for $64.96 plus shipping from the MPOWERD website.

4.  LitraTorch 2.0 Light

The LitraTorch 2.0 is a great little gadget with multiple uses. This little light cube features 16 LEDs with 90+CRI at 5700 daylight temperature, which makes it the perfect assistant to a photographer or videographer.

With its 800 lumens of continuous, high-quality light, it is the perfect companion to light up dark settings or make shadows on faces disappear.

It’s like having portable studio lighting that fits in your pocket.  It also comes with a white diffuser cover that makes a diffused light instead of 16 individual LEDs showing.

Use the LitraTorch 2.0 with DSLR and Point and Shoot cameras, video cameras, action cameras, and smartphones.

It comes with flexible mounting with two 1/4-20 standard camera mounts, embedded magnet, GoPro mount, belt clip.

The light’s framework houses a strong magnet.  You can adhere it to the enclosed metal disc mounts (there are 2 of them that can stick anywhere) or to anything else that’s metal.

I hung it from the metal beam that goes across my workbench in the garage for better overhead light on the project I was working on.

The LitraTorch 2.0 is flicker-free and has 4 settings.  It has three levels of brightness and a strobe setting.  The rechargeable battery life can last up to 4 hours with continuous use.

It’s small and lightweight, at its nearly 1 1/2 cubed size and weighs only 3.17 ounces.  The LitraTorch 2.0 can also be submerged in water, up to 60 feet.

I love the versatility of the LitraTorch 2.0 for photography, videography, action shooting lighting, or direct lighting around the house or garage.

The Litratorch 2.0 is available is available from the Litra website for $89.95 plus shipping.

5.  Nixplay Seed Wave Photo Frame

The Nixplay Seed Wave is pretty innovative in that it’s the first photo frame, that I’m aware of, that can play audio from your video clips (although video playback is currently only available from the iOS Nixplay Mobile App and limited to 15 seconds per video).

To actually see moving pictures (videos) reminds me of the pictures in Harry Potter movies.  It’s a fun way to relive special moments.  The Nixplay Seed Wave houses two 5-watt Bluetooth speakers with dedicated bass and audio amplifier.

This means you can also stream music from any Bluetooth enabled devices like your phone, tablet, or PC to play your music.

The Nixplay Seed Wave displays beautiful pictures with its wide 1920×1080 HD screen.

The frame turns on only when it senses the motion of someone coming into the room.  There’s no need to worry about ongoing power consumption, which is a common worry for seniors.

I remember years ago, my mother-in-law would constantly unplug her digital photo frame at night to conserve energy and eventually forgot to turn it on during the day.  Needless to say, it didn’t get used much.

The Nixplay Seed Wave easily connects to Google Photos, Dropbox, Facebook, and Instagram.  I connected the frame to my Google Photos account to select photos I wanted to be displayed.

To make it easy, I could also select “people’ and the photo frame plays miscellaneous pictures of people in my Google Photos account, including the most recent ones.

With the Google Photos app on my phone, I back up a copy of all photos to my Google Photos account, so even my newest pictures make it to my Nixplay Seed Wave frame.

You can send photos to a friend’s or family member’s Nixplay frame, even if they reside somewhere else.  Perfect for sending pictures to Gramma or family pics to your dorm-living college student.

The Nixplay app is great, I have over 12 albums that I can turn on or turn off to send to my frame (or a family member’s). I can make as many albums as I’d like.

The Nixplay Seed Wave Photo Frame is available directly from the Nixplay website for $249.99 plus shipping.
