A Gaming Laptop Gives Power To So Much More

As highlighted in our 2018 Top 10 Tech Christmas Gifts for Dads, the Legion Y730 was a standout gift for Dads.  But guess what?  The majority of PC gamers are not men.

In fact, just over 50% of US gamers are women!  We’re not just talking casual gaming, 54% of role-playing PC gamers are women, according to an article published by PC Gamer.

So take a closer look at this cool gaming PC, you’ll see why it’s worth taking note of.

The Legion Y730 Gaming Laptop

We want to be clear in this article, that the Legion Y730 gaming laptop is a laptop that would be appreciated by both men and women.

The beauty of this laptop is its versatility in use.  It’s made for gaming but its processing power and graphics overlay is perfect for video editing,  graphic design, streaming, presentations, and more.

Gaming

In playing games, especially role-playing games, you need a high performing laptop with amazing colors.  The Legion Y730 has Full High Definition graphics which render at 2 million pixels, quite impressive.

The Legion Y730 handles this beautifully with its 8th Gen Intel® Core™ mobile processors and up to six cores and 12 threads for high-end gaming as well as content creation.  It serves up graphics effortlessly.

With 16GB DDR4 2666HMz memory, customizable RGB lighting effects, and an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti, it serves up an amazing amount of frames per second with no delays in video processing.

These are pretty stunning specs for a gaming laptop.  The Legion Y730 is housed in a precision-cut, all-aluminum chassis and features a 15.6-inch screen.

The keyboard offers a response time of under 1 millisecond, offering quick reaction times in high-action games.  This laptop depicts luxury, style, and gaming finesse.

I loved the way it handles action-packed games and the graphics intensity is amazing.  And truthfully, I LOVE the backlit keyboard ambient lighting, it makes the laptop fun and hip.  It just screams cool.

And it not only looks good, but it also sounds fantastic.

The Legion Y730 utilizes Sound Radar from Dobly, when used with headphones, gives you to hear the enemy in role-playing games all around you, allowing for the precise location of every sound.  You’ll feel more immersed in a three-dimensional space, Dolby Amos gives you the sense of feeling the sound around you.

No worries about hearing a loud noise from a fan to power the processor.

The Legion Y730 comes with a dual-channel thermal system with individual cooling for the CPU and Graphics Processing Unit.  In fact, it has four thermal vents with 66 individual fan blades per channel to lessen system noise.

Cooling is important to ensure the processing units do not overheat, which interferes with smooth gameplay and higher Frames Per Second FPS rendering.

Video Editing

The same processing power, graphics rendering, and RAM memory that works so well for gaming works great for video editing too.  You need a lot of processing power for video editing and the Legion Y730 handles it masterfully.

The Legion Y730 gaming laptop supports 60 HZ refresh rate and a beautiful Full HD (FHD) display of  1920 x 1080, which provides crisp detail of video frames filmed in Full High Definition.

Graphic Design

With its 2 TB hard drive and 512 GB PCIe SSD (Solid State Drive), you’ll have room to house your graphics software and projects.

Colors look amazing and using graphics software with multi-layering graphics works really well.

Of course, you get the added artistical flare of the backlit keyboard and ambient lighting that emits from the sides and back of the laptop.

Presentations

Giving a presentation?  It’s easy to plug in a full-sized HDMI plug into the back and the other end into a TV and you’re ready to go.

Whether it’s a PowerPoint or Prezi presentation or working on spreadsheets or documents with a group, it’s easy to project your work to a bigger screen.

I plugged the Legion Y730 into my 32″ TV using the HDMI cord, selected the correct input, and instantly duplicated my laptop to the TV.

I like to do this to project my notes or spreadsheet to a larger screen so everyone at the meeting can see my notes as we discuss various points.

My son did the same thing when he worked on his Odyssey of the Mind script with his team.

Everyone could “be on the same page,” as he took notes and made adjustments.  It makes a personal laptop a sharable space so a wider audience can see his work.

Streaming

The Legion Y730 gaming laptop is a natural for streaming media from YouTube, Netflix, Vudu, Amazon Prime, and other video on demand sources.

With its 16 GB of RAM, NVIDIA graphics card, and powerful 8th Gen Intel® Core™ mobile processor, you get uninterrupted streaming (as long as you have fast Internet!).

Movies look great on this gaming laptop due to its vivid Full HD display.  Its 15.9″ screen is great for one person, but you can use an HDMI cord to duplicate the screen on your TV for the whole family to watch.

Of course, you can use the Legion Y730 for regular stuff too like writing emails, surfing the Internet, listening to music, catching up on social media, etc.

The Legion Y730 15-inch gaming laptop is available from the Lenovo website, starting from $1,000 and up. We reviewed the 81HD000PUS model, the top of the line version.  It is priced at $1,550.  Shipping is included.
